why is this game so utterly hidden and unpopular

What a bizarre game. I find it visually repulsive in a lot of ways (the Zeno Clash developers sure do love their ugly designs), but not so much that I can't appreciate the style... regardless, the message and consistency is on-point. Definitely stands out among many other games and I regret that I only learned about it recently. Hopefully it was received well enough to justify a sequel, although I don't feel it's really necessary. The issue is unresolved, but it wouldn't have quite the same impact to have the cylinder resume its rampage. What makes this game so unique, though, is that it is a genuine survival game. Your entire goal is to stop yourself from being rolled over and you get to see exactly what happens to the land behind the cylinder when it advances. Even at the height of their power, the Trebhum could only serve to slow it down with their towers and if you ever failed even once to activate a tower, the whole world was doomed without a hope of survival. I like how they emphasized your powerlessness even in the final fight. You weren't fighting the creature, you were just trying to survive while your friends, returning the favor of you doing your part in what little way you can (preserving their memories), held back the cylinder's creature. Also I like how in a similar vein to Pikmin, you're basically in a post-human world. There are signs of humans and it's pretty clear you were helped by the remnant memories of one, but they're so far removed from the story that you only really see what's left of them in the horrible monsters and architecture of the "One" entity the Cylinder was creating. And you never really get a clear answer as to what the Cylinder is or who made it, just that it doesn't seem like humans were responsible, they were just the most dominant species to be absorbed by it, which is way better than what I was expecting (wherein humans tried to make a better society through AI or something to that effect and were overtaken; which the game doesn't feel like it hinted at in any way). I'd say this is an excellent representative of games as an art form. It's still a game, but it's also kinda something more. It stands out from other games, whether you consider it to be in a good or bad way, and does something totally different from any game before it. It leaves an impression.

This game had one of many themes. The most powerful theme being that no matter the odds you can overcome anything together.

The trebhums are actually oddly cute, this game is so underrated honestly Edit; I had to point out the little noise at 6:23:57 pls little trumpet noise 🥹

This game should win an award for creature design.

Watching you ignore all the crystals in caves when you could've refined them and then being short on dust for other things was physically painful

What an entire cylinder that was

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems closing and relaunching the game fixes it. I'm on my second playthrough, but this time around I can't get the Trebhum Shrine at 27:40 to open (the blue light line also doesn't show up and the patterns on the shrine don't glow); I'm assuming it's a glitch, because I don't think there's any steps I need to take beforehand in order to access it besides stopping the Cylinder at the tower, right? Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I love it because I like that you can upgrade guys and you are having a big adventure but... I hate leaving the eggs and the bee things behind and getting crushed cause that just makes me sad :( also don't forget I bet that's a good game for you to not give up on a big disaster and always help others to accomplish stuff!

I have issues with the run at 7:42:30. I get a bit over half-way to the gate, before the cylinder picks up what seems about 3x speed. I have stamina almost fully upgraded. Does the cylinder pick up speed because I failed to do something in the area, or because I got too far ahead of it?

8:37:24 yes he's sad. Yes he's will cry. Yes he's (kinda) alone. But he's the only and ONLY hero of trebhums. Stay safe little hero name Tuu....
