Your channel is a jewel. It is like an archive for restoring this machines. Can't thank you enough.
  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I'm a mixed media artist & started a piece using my ole smith & corona silent ..half way through the draw band busted...I was at my wits end because I needed this typewriter to finish my project...your instructions are so clear & concise on the "how-to"..not many knowledgeable people on this type of repair so for that I wanted to make sure I got on here & thank you for sharing your wisdom !

Another great video that explains exactly how to do something. Thank you for this, Duane.
  • Your channel is so important. I want to thank you publicly for some recent emails. You mentioned this method of drawband tightening and I searched up this video. Onward. You make it all look so easy.
  • Great video, thanks for sharing. I was unsure how long to make the new draw band so I went with about 4 inches longer than the width of the typewriter. The length worked fine. I used clear 30 lb monofilament leader line.

Thanks so much for this video. I just picked up a vintage Model 5 Remington with a broken draw band. I understand the repair. (Thanks to you). I'm just hoping my Remington typewriter has the same drawband system.

Thank you, I just purchased an old 1947 Smith Corona Sterling with a draw band problem. Your video really helped me fix the problem.

I really appreciate you taking the time to explain how this works. I bought an Erika Number 5 a couple weeks ago and fixed the draw band with your video. It works like a charm. Thank you from Argentina!
  • Thank you Duane, for such novel technique demo. I'm confident that I can put my typewriter's spring drum back in now.

Thank you so much!!! I was able to get my drawband attached with this video. The video had good focus on key areas to look for.
  • Love you man, Thank you Thank you.... Fixed my problem in 40 minutes with the help of your video.

Thank you for your really generously informative and helpful videos. With your help I just got an old Halda 6k from 1956 up and running. The carriage strap was broken when I got it, but I found a ribbon among my things that worked as a replacement. Tightening the main spring and then putting on the strap almost gave me a nervous breakdown, but boy was I happy when I managed to get the thing working again.

Really great video Thanks for taking the time to make sure camera was focused and in view when working from different angles. Audio was also excellent. I had fixed a drawband before but didn't know that the spring retracts and makes room for the knot...very interesting. Just picked up a QWERTY Erika and it's cosmetically great, mechanically in need of just a few things. Excited to get it running 100%
  • Thanks for posting this..I left my antique Remington Noiseless with a repair guy for a year and it came back worse....the draw band had broken ..it's a slightly different set up (I just hook one end round a "spike" on the spring) but it seems to work perfectly..thank you again...made my day.

Thank you for this video. It saved a typewriter I just received today from ebay. I was able to re attach the cord, and now the typewriter is fully functional once again... This was very helpful.
  • Thank you so much. My main typewriter had its spring break and I had to go to my remington model 5 deluxe, which I can't use very well because I don't have the right ribbon.

Wow, thanks for this video! Extremely helpful.
