The Mandalorian made the idea of fighting droids a lot more scarier than the original movie's battledroids

"You know, you're not so bad..... for a droid.." IG-11 -- "Agreed"

It was so great to finally get to see just how badass the IG units are. This was awesome!!

I honestly love IG units, the fact that they're part of the same line of droids that Magnaguards were is amazing, no matter the model or function, IG units always kick ass
  • @Doggeslife
A droid so popular that they had to write a way into the script to bring him back for more episodes.

I really like the way it moves. It's not just a robot mimicing a human. It actually uses it's servos, turns around on the spot and aims at several targets at the same time. For Star Wars this is very functional and well thought out. It also makes IG 11 very alien like and menacing. Very well done.

IG 11 was just a brilliant Character and went so well with the series. His end was also one of the best written things in the whole galaxy of Star wars in my opinion. But also one of the saddest.
  • Holy crap, I never realized that they gathered his parts and made a little statue in season 2, didn’t even see that til now!
  • IG droids was exactly how I imagined the killer robots of the future. Basically aimbots with perfect accuracy and spatial awareness able to kill as many men (and perhaps vehicles) as it's ammo and fire rate allowed it. A much more accurate representation compared to for example the b1 battle droids

I miss IG-11. Also so happy we finally got to see how deadly this stiff skinny robot series is. Every movement is so calculated and effective, nothing wasted or unnessesary.

I was scared of IG-88 as a kid cause his bossfight on Ord Mantell in SotE was spooky. Seeing IG-11 move like that more than 20 years later made me smile.

I got chills from this scene the first time I watched it. The IG11 spinning around and destroying everything was amazing.

"I am not a living thing" "I can no longer carry this for you, nor can I watch the child" "Victory through combat is impossible" "Sadly there is no scenario, where the child lives and I survive" "Do not be sad I was never alive" Damn not many shows can achieve a feeling where you emotionally attached to a machine, he might say he was not a living thing but to us he was living and that was enough

Fun fact: The IG-88 series rebelled against their makers and killed them to become bounty hunters. The IG units were also illegal under the galactic republic. Later the manufacturer was forced to remanufacture said units as “security droids” after the empire was established if they wanted to continue production.

Subparagraph 16 of the bondsman guild protocol waiver compels me to say you are doing a wonderful job and I hope for you to continue to produce these assets.
  • @normaldavid
Aww, I never noticed that they put up a statue in its honor.
  • I love how the series showed how terrifying IG units can be. I can’t imagine how deadly IG-88 is. If you really think about it, bounty hunting droids are probably among some of the best in the galaxy. There’s a reason Vader hired not just IG-88, but also 4-LOM to track down the Millennium Falcon.
