Body camera footage of the Allen Premium Outlet mall mass shooting was released Wednesday after a grand jury no-billed the officer who shot and killed the shooter.

The Texas Rangers and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office presented the evidence to the grand jury. The grand jury's no-bill means that after reviewing the evidence, they ruled the use of force was justified under Texas law.

Eight people were killed and several others were injured when a gunman opened fire at the Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday, May 6.

The body camera footage released Wednesday showed the tragic events from the officer's perspective. The video was edited to blur out the faces of civilians and victims, and some language has been removed, Allen police said.

The video starts with the officer speaking to a mother and her two kids when more than 10 gunshots are heard off in the distance. The officer calls in the shots fired over the radio and another round of gunfire is heard. The officer grabs his weapon and tells shoppers to get down.

The way he switched from "Make sure you always wear your seatbelt kids." To killing an active shooter is incredible, Props to this cop.

This is why we should support our good officers. From seat belt lesson to mass shooter take down.
  • @DavidGuyBurns
I heard so much about the officers who took forever to get in the school. Didn’t hear anything about this guy who went towards the shot by himself. Incredible to see such heroism

The fact that mom heard the noise looked around and rushed her babies to a safe space hurts my heart to think a simple mall trip could be their last is devastating and to the cop who jumped straight into action on his own didn't wait for backup just went straight for the active shooter thats bravery I hope he gets a raise and any therapy he needs for the trauma of having to do what he had to I hope this man has the best in everything that comes his way

This officer pivoted from telling children to wear their seatbelt to running toward the sound of gunfire and singlehandledly engage a mass shooter. His backup was there at the end, but this officer went to gunfire. Without backup. And eliminated a threat. Massive respect

Give this officer the highest honor and award

How many lives were saved because of the actions of this brave officer? The world needs more heroes like him.
  • Brother, I can't imagine what it would be like hearing those gun shots while being pressed by adrenaline and sheer gear weight. Hearing that second volley, slinging the rifle, and moving towards - alone - made our flag shed a tear. I sincerely hope this guy has no regrets about this day. Outstanding job, Officer. Thank you for your service.
  • An officer who still doesn't want to do interviews, still doesn't want any recognition at all for his heroism, but deserves all the recognition in the world.

these people saying he's out of breath don't even understand... these kind of intense and horrible situation makes your heart beats fast, it gives immense pressure to your whole being.

Dude's like a comic book hero, from telling kids to use their seatbelts to neutralizing a mass shooter. Amazing officer!
  • @02mgnm
That's what is called an actual hero. Running to the action trying to save people in danger. I salute you sir!

For anyone who wants to argue he was out of shape or took too long, you are trained to stop and listen to gunfire to see where its coming from. You go towards the sound of it so your not running around aimlessly and in the wrong direction. He remained calm and reverted to his training and saved many because of his actions. True definition of a hero.

This guy deserves a medal and a promotion for being an outstanding public servant.
  • @Momosblackdog
Anyone saying that he's out of breath: This guy ran 500 metres with 15 kilos of gear in 90 degrees towards an unknown threat. You try it.
  • @rogerborg
For context, it was 97 degrees in the shade that day, and he was carrying 40lbs of gear.

He’s not just an officer. He’s a hero! Thank you for your service.
  • @grimlun1810
Didn’t wait for back up, didn’t hesitate and most importantly he was effective. Props to you and your training.
  • @srf2112
I've watched this video several times and I have to say this officer is a legitimate hero. His focus and actions in an extremely tense, dangerous and fluid situation most surely saved lives. My hat is off to you sir. Thank you.
  • This is officer is truly a hero! Talking to the children about wearing their seatbelts and when the shots started he immediately gets his gun and runs toward the shots!! We just don’t need more officers like him we need more people like him!! ❤
