APRIL FOOLS! It looked like SNOW but it was fun in the SAND instead. Natures playground of sand!

Spring Break 2024 road trip to eclipse totality in Texas!
April 1st, day 3 of our 11 day trip, led us through snowy mountain roads to Southern New Mexico to White Sands National Park. The massive expanse of white sand dunes were amazing. We were able to find some good enough weather to hike a portion of Alkali Flat Trail. We even found some sizable dunes to sled and jump off of. It was amazing!!

Enjoy!

Winter is definitely the best time to visit that park. Couldnโ€™t imagine sledding in the summer with boiling hot sand! Rain was a blessing in disguise, packed that sand for you all to walk on. Beautiful place, great place to lose your key ๐Ÿคฃ

Hi guys I really liked this national park, I did think it was snow at first though hehe ! So fun to go there, 5 hours was a long trip through bad weather but it looked worth it and it was great that the rain packed the sand down to make it easier to walk and the weather was OK for you. Loved the 360 view you showed. Shame that you didn't have a sledge to slide down seeing as though the coat didn't work, it was a steep hill though ๐Ÿ˜ƒLoved that and the pillar of sand was interesting. So beautiful there ~ Anna ๐Ÿ‘
  • Oooh fun! Another place we plan to visit someday. Looks amazing. We're so glad the weather turned out great. Getting lost out there would suck. Too funny about the sledding and the jumping. You got some good air time! Thanks for sharing, guys! Love all the views! โค

Five hours driving would kill me but fair play, the park did look amazing. Never seen sand as white as that before and I can see how easy it would be to get lost there. Plenty of oil on those sledges may have helped but still, looked a load of fun to me. You had to give that hill a go but a disappointed effort, rolling sure would have worked but you sure need a sledge for next time. Unsure it that was a new long jump record or not bet is sure beats my PB and defo an A for efforts! Those clouds in the sky looked amazing, cheers Alan

Just love the White Sands. It brings out the big kid in us too. W have enjoyed better weather on our visits. We have been back a few times staying in Alamogordo so the we could be out on the sands at sunset. We have had several wonderful evenings there. When the sun goes down the sands almost glow with a pearly light. Amazing place. Great to see you enjoying the visit.
  • Wacky Mother Nature! White Sands is such an interesting and different place ! Loved all the sand dunes, especially sledding on them, alot of fun:) We spoke with a park ranger while we were there and she was telling us about some human history they discovered that they are escavating right nowthat dates back 25,000 years. Who knows what else may be out there! Thanks for sharing!
