On the morning of April 13th, 2029, the asteroid named Apophis unexpectedly enters Earth's atmosphere, bringing utter bedlam and destruction. Thanks to the swift actions of the United States, the worst of the calamity is thwarted, saving millions. However, the aftereffects of destroying an asteroid at the last minute, gives rise to an entirely new threat unlike any the country has seen.
The day the asteroid entered the planet's vicinity, it brought with it Minutia - a timid, young nomad who has crash landed on Earth - a place she's never heard of. Though she appears both on the inside and outside as human as anyone, she is anything but. Try as she might, Minutia has little success in adapting to a society that fears what they don't understand. It doesn't help that she must befriend a killer to help her find an ancient artifact. In the process, she discovers an inexplicable ability to distort one of the laws of physics. Whether this is a benefit or a setback, she will come to realize.
At the same time, a man tasked with protecting the greatest city in the world, struggles to balance his life as a father, husband and hero. It isn't long before this beloved icon is overwhelmed by the scourge of the very facilities he's delegated to protect. When he finally crosses the path of the visitor from another solar system, the line between what's right and wrong begins to blur against the backdrop of a society under extreme distress. Whatever it means to be a savior may not longer mean anything.
