One day trip to Laavu Shelter -    • My BUSHCRAFT SHELTER | Trip to Forest...

Spring has come long ago, but the forest is still snowy and cold. And only the singing of birds and the murmur of melt water in the stream speak of the arrival of spring.

On the first day of my bushcraft trip, I found a birch tree felled by the wind and prepared a log for cutting out a bowl.
I brought log in to the laavu forest shelter and split it in two with an ax and a wooden mallet. Drawed the shape of the bowl and carved the inside with the help of woodcarver chisel.

Imperceptibly evening came and it was dinner time. I cooked quails tied to a stick and chaga tea with rose hips and cranberries over a fire.

After closed the entrance to the laavu with the help of a poncho, sat a little more by the fire at dusk, listened to the night forest, the sounds of nature and went to sleep.

The second day of my bushcraft hike has come. For breakfast, I cooked an egg over the fire and proceeded to cut out the bowl. On this day, I cut out the outer shape of the bowl with an ax. After that, I smoothed it out with a sloyd knife.

To prevent the bowl from absorbing moisture, I made a roasting inside with the help of coals from a fire. At this, the manufacture of a bowl with a hand tool in the forest was completed.

It's time to cook lohikeitto (kalakeitto) - a traditional Karelian and Finnish soup - milk soup with salmon.

A piece of birch chipped from a log was used as a cutting board. The recipe for making this soup is simple -
green onions are fried in butter, poured with water, diced potatoes are added and cooked for 10 minutes. Then add 30% cream, diced salmon, salt. Brew for another 7 -10 minutes. Add black pepper and dill - a delicious creamy fish soup is ready!

After a hearty snack (I ate almost all the fish soup, it turned out to be very tasty - or I was very hungry), there was a short break - time to listen and look at nature, the crackle of a fire.

I didn’t want to leave, but the time had passed. After collecting all the things in a backpack, eating the remnants of the fish soup and extinguishing the fire, I had to reluctantly go back.

Thanks for watchin
