The Secret Companion Most Players Miss
First up is how to get a hidden companion that most players miss. This companion is none other than Minsc! This character returns from Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2, and can only join your party under certain circumstances. If you progress the quest The High Harper in Act 3 you will eventually run into Minsc. However, when encountered, he is hostile towards you and you will end up having to fight him. To recruit him as a companion two conditions must be met during this fight - first, you must have Jaheira in your party, and you must have non-lethal attacks turned on, and you must use a melee attack as the finishing blow to knock out Minsc. If both those conditions are met, you can progress through dialogue with Jaheira and the Emperor to ultimately recruit Minsc as your permanent companion. It’s totally worth it too, Minsc has a lot of funny lines, and most people probably miss having him as a companion since you must have Jaheira in your party to recruit him.

Secret Ability Does 20d6 Damage!
And next up is a secret ability that does 20d6 damage! To get this ability is extremely rare, having to do multiple things exactly right to unlock it. This ability is Rolan's Firestorm. This insane ability is super rare because you will only have the chance to unlock it in act 3 if you convince Rolan to stay and defend the grove in Act 1, and then later in Act 2 talk to him in the bar where he is distraught because his siblings have been kidnapped. After you exit dialogue with Rolan, within that same long rest you’ll need to save him down by the river where he is attempting to rescue his siblings from Moonrise, and send him back to Last Light Inn. If you long rest before saving him, he will be overwhelmed by the shadows and die. After saving him, you’ll need to then successfully save his siblings, Lia and Cal from Moonrise prison and later save the Nightsong within the Shadowfel. Finally, in Act 3 you then just need to bring the Nightsong to Larroakan and side with Dame Aylin. The reason you have to do all these things is because if Rolan isn’t convinced to stay and defend the grove, he and his siblings will die on the road to the Blighted Village. Then in Act 2 if you don’t save him from the ambush by the river he will succumb to the shadow curse. And last, if you don’t save Lia and Cal, then he will side with Larroakan when you bring the Nightsong to Ramazith’s Tower and you will have to slay him. We can only assume that if he loses his siblings it changes him for the worse, leading him to siding with Larroakan. So with all those conditions met, you’ll unlock an amazing end game spell that most players probably don’t ever see. And even though Larroakan offers the exact same spell as a reward if you give him the Nightsong, this version of the spell is for those doing a “good” playthrough.

Save Arka from Herself
Next up is a hidden interaction with Arka. In Act 1, Kanon, Arka’s brother, dies while trying to open the gate for Aradin and his party. After the fight you can find Arka asking for a healer for Kanon, even though he is already dead. As a Dark Urge, you even get special dialogue fantasizing about Tieflings and Goblins slaughtering each other until neither of them remain, if only you were to guide them to it. Arka then decides to take matters into her own hands and seeks to execute Sazza.

This has to be a joke. Minsc is insanely hidden as a companion? 😢
  • @temperspace
INSANELY hidden secrets.. that you get by following the quests in your quest log
  • Like half of these aren’t even secret. Most players doing a good playthrough are gonna encounter the stuff related to saving the tieflings. And 4 of these are just deluxe edition items.
  • You do not need to have jaheira in your party, you just need to have recruited her (if she's at camp, it works).
  • Not sure if "Do the quest to have the questgiver join you in th final battle." qualifies as insanely hidden. Also the digital deluxe portraits are basically one thing and you know that.
  • 'This item is none other than the portrait of...' is a great trolling part (though we don't endorse this way of turning 16 secrets into 19 secrets).
  • @LordofBroccoli
I think we're running out of secrets ;) Four of these are portraits, which aren't really hidden unless you're just not looking around. And you already mentioned the Red Prince one in a previous video if I remember correctly. Not sure Minsc counts as a hidden companion too. I like these videos and there's still a lot that's new to me, just that the vid is a little inflated :)

Got excited when you said, “new companion in Patch 7” thinking of the Halfling Bard Werewolf we were denied. Temporary Alfira is fine but, does it mean we can’t do the bonk method to trigger the Dragonborn bard or will the Dragonborn replace Alfira as a temporary companion instead?
  • @Zackiezzz
wished we could get nine fingers to actually join the party. would love to have her as a companion

Rolan's Firestorm was supposed to be a "Secret" Spell? I got that on my first playthrough, it was easy, hardest part was keeping that red f*** alive during the mage tower fight, but all i had to do was put him to sleep and then cast sanctuary at him and i didn't have to worry about him.
  • You don’t need to have jaheira in your party to recruit minsc, pretty sure she just needs to be in your camp at least
  • @Jamelon
So guys... there a thing i wanna tell you There's and item that appears for only some people and not others... And apparently it does not hold a lot of value to sell to traders and isntead references a playable character from Larian's Divinity Original Sin II
  • First is wrong. You can recruit Minsk without jahira present. If she's a companion in camp that's fine
  • @LisaSteblyk
you don't need to bring Dame Ailyn to Lorroakan to get Rolan's firestorm!! i just entered the tower with my party, defeated Lorroakan with Ailyn safely chilling at my camp and spoke to Rolan afterwards you do have to do all the steps in act 1 and 2 tho

“Babygurl doesn’t have time to kiss” how dare you
  • @MrHydenSeek
Rolan is also bugged now and then he does not appear in Act 3 despite doing everything.
  • @DonkThikkness
Not sure if it has changed with updated patches, but Lae’Zel did not disapprove of defacing Vlaakith’s portrait for me. I actually reloaded to see if I missed the disapproval message, but it did not appear. She just scolded me for being childish, though I think she’s secretly impressed with Tav’s boldness. My head canon is that she was cackling internally, but wouldn’t dare shame the Githyanki in such a way.
