The astronaut bit is actually true. Thise electroshock devices are used in therapy, for people whocan barely move because they have been bedridden for months - or astronauts whose muscles have completely wasted away in zero gravity. They stimulate your muscles to help you regain strength when you're literally too weak to move on your own. They do not give you a sixpack.
