This heroic bear ran a mile to save that caribou from drowning, dragged him to safety and then performed CPR.

It is absolutely terrifying that you can have a mile head start over a bear, and it can still hunt you down.

I wonder if anyone noticed that although the bear was pretty far off and could never have seen the caribou, yet he ran exactly straight along the path which the caribou took. I simply can't stop thinking how keen was the sense of smell of the 500 lb bear while still running at top speed..Wow

Alright, everyone one knows about: their keen scent; powerful jaws; sharp claws; they can run faster than you; they can climb a tree faster than you can run… and I knew they could swim but wow what powerful swimmers. And I had no idea the .*stamina* and the intelligence! And when they catch their prey… it’s not a kill bite to the neck or spine: it’s a terrifying, horrific, agonizing, mauling. A perfect killing machine. Great video, guys, including the commentary. Thanks for sharing it.

It's all fun and games until the bear, 2 miles away, looks in your direction, sniffs the air, and starts running your way.

His stamina is incredible. 500lbs? 10 miles an hour? 15 minutes? Not to mention his vision and smell over a huge distance. Incredible.

It amazes me just how far a bear can pick up another animal’s scent trail from so far away. There’s no way from the video that the bear was able to spot that caribou from that far a distance with its own two eyes. I’m also just as equally impressed that it was able to maintain its speed for that length of time despite all its girth.

Thanks for taking the time to record all of that. Real reality - not theatre. The simplicity of nature - the complexities of survival therein.
  • Let's take a moment to appreciate that this doesn't have annoying music playing over it.

I had no idea just how insane the endurance of Grizzly was! To carry that much weight in a full gallop for that long, and then to switch to swimming, only to then attack and drag… that’s incredible.

Now thats a great video! No dumb music, a steady camera man, not to much talking over the video, and zoomed in after the bear made the kill. Nice work

This reminded me of a nightmare I had as a kid where someone was chasing me from far away and I’m trying to run away in water and sand but could barely move. Imagine that’s how the caribou felt.

I love how he specified “no annoying music”

Astonishing. Thank you for sharing. This real-time action is what we never see on the documentaries, only the edited highlights.

Thank you for breaking this down so clearly. 💡 Your videos are a lifesaver!
  • @jermg547
Out ran him. Out swam him. Than dragged him out and away from the water. Pure beast
  • @ryancooper780
Could you just imagine being in that situation, no where to go no where to hide? Man, bears are terrifying.
  • Thank You for no annoying music! Indeed, there is no man-made music in the wilds. And I would not have guessed the grizzly would have half that much endurance. The caribou became exhausted while in the first leg of crossing the water. ThanX for showing!
