My barber experience in Italy was epic, couldn't speak the language, had two blokes arguing over who and how to cut my hair, in Italian, but had the best haircut I've ever had to date. 👍❤

I really enjoy your excursions and trips to town. I follow a number of people restoring old houses who focus just on the house and yard projects. It's so nice to see what it's like in the towns and villages and to get a feel of the area and what it's like to live there. It's so incredibly beautiful there!

Hi Richard, as an Italian from Marche region living abroad, you bring me back to my youth and I am so happy to that you can find a decent life there. Maybe one day we might meet there and have an aperitivo together with a good glass of Sangiovese and "stuzzichini"... you show me that it is possible to live in Italy in spite the many difficulties, and I welcome you and all the civilised people willing to come and live peacefully with us. PS: all our Italian mamas would have recommended to go to that beach by kayak or motorboat with an hat, because the sun is really hot there, specially if you spend several hours. After such kayaking, you could not but have a good meal on the beach such as "spaghetti alle vongole".... If you need any suggestion, here we are!

Getting rid of that scrap metal was a huge accomplishment. It must be very satisfying. I am really enjoying following your progress, and even though the official things don't get done so fast, it's great that you don't criticise and complain, but just go with the flow. Thanks for taking us along on your kayak excursion. What a beautiful experience.

You really do want me to tell my current work to f off and then move to Italy. I want to do this too.
  • @paulab9310
you summarised perfectly why Italy is where it is : lovely people it just takes a lot to get things done

It's a rural thing, running to the gates to meet people who don't know where to go. I've been doing it since the late 80's lol. 😂
  • I’m a remodeler. I dreamed of doing exactly this for so long. But after seeing this, I’m convinced I’d be better off to buy something already rehabbed. Not knowing the systems I don’t believe I could get it done efficiently and save any money and the chance to screw something up is far too easy. Thanks you for the truthfulness

What a funny couple of scrap metal collectors. They had a circus-like attitude. He asked you what those blinds were and if they were plastic instead of metal, near the end. Lovely video. Makes me miss home

I just found your channel. Congratulations on finding the home you wanted, near what you love, the beaches. Been viewing lots of videos to see what region would be fitting for what I would like in an Italian home with access to the beautiful beaches. You are right, don’t need a huge home, just something that would suffice and grown from there. Your search seems to be over. You are now setting roots. Congratulations.

I bet you are relieved to see some of the scrap metal being removed Richard. There is that contradiction in Italy of people who love it because of the slower pace of life but also being frustrated by how slowly everything (but the drivers) moves. The trip out on the kayak looked amazing with all the hidden beaches, similar to Greece in some ways.

The videos are getting better and better Richard. With all the metal gone, you’ll have so much more land to do things with. We had similar issues with our home in Nova Scotia, Canada when we moved here 5 years ago, so can relate. The Kayaking looked amazing! Can’t wait to see how good the home looks now, 7 months later. Thanks for sharing. It’s so good to watch your journey. Take care.

I discovered your channel yesterday and I am marathoning the episodes. Loving what you’re doing!
  • Does Italy have any DAY WORKERS that you could hire? WOW My goodness, I was tired just watching how hard you were working! :) No skips/dumpsters (US term) to put the stuff in directly? Your energy is amazing, and SO good to hear you narrating as you went along on your journey. 24 minutes in I see that he DID have someone to help you. OUCH!! so glad you didn't hurt yourself! OMG he should have brought a bigger TRUCK!! WHERE did you get the energy to kayak after all the work you did! Stay safe! Time for a snack, and a bit of rest!! Ciao!!
  • That chap picking up the metal reminds me of the wrestlers my grandmother used to watch on ITV's World of Sport.
  • @sypunterguy3737
love following your journey, please keep them coming, it helps keeping us dreamers keep our dream alive.

Hello there, love your vids. You have a fantastic spot there in Italy! You're working so hard. Keep it up and you'll enjoy even more! I personally would have kept the metal roof plates. Those things used and rusty cost a fortune in Holland. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey. Wit kind regards, Gerlof
