I have an intex excursion 4 boat running a minn kota 30# with a 120amp hr 24 size battery. My battery is fairly heavy, weighs about 50lbs. My motor runs LONG, can go 12-14hrs on the lowest setting easy with a single charge. When I am in the open water lake, I normally run at mid speed which is 3. This is lake ponchartrain too, 2nd largest lake in the USA! I keep the battery in a minn kota power center box, I check the meter off and on to see how much battery is left. Great setup for mine!

dude awesome setup... can't wait to buy this motor for the spring... i heard the weedless prop works miracles. i have a maybe 15lb thrust one and i'm ready to throw it off the cliff.

i got a minn kota classic 28 for 40 bucks at a yard sale, came with warranty and all even had the box like brand new the guy used it twice and then needed a more powerful motor so he got a prowler, im happy with my purchase and im thinking about installing it on my yak

Nice presentation. Thanks for sharing. I ordered a 30 lbs model but did not receive it yet. Now I'm thinking of getting a 55 lbs instead. :(
  • Use paracord to brace those mounts to the rowlocks and it will control the shaft better in 5th
  • @MujoNovak
insane transition from 4 to 5. jeez minnkota c'mon

hey looks like a good vid. I just got the intex 5 for a steal of a price. 89 dollars. :) brand new. I can't wait to take it out on the lake. I'm looking to buy a 55lb motor for it. Its not going to haul ass on the lake, but will help keep the day fun and relaxing.

@aerialviper1 From what I understand 75lb thrust is closer to 1hp. I just got a 50lb trolling motor and I like it.

@rals301 110Ah battery it last 14h on 1, 12h on 2, 8h on 3 and 2.5 h on 5... Depends on how heavy your boat is i guess. I use that motor on a mackinaw156 and i usually use 2-3 when i fish and 5 to get out or in faster.

Thank you for the response. I had my heart set on the E5 and you comments just convinced me. I found the battery you suggested on sears website and will stop by the local store to purchase one. How do you figure out that this battery will last you >2hrs? ...I am also considering other Endura motors. Now, about the charger. Can you use any kind or are there specific parameters I should look for? Any model suggestions? Thanks a lot for your help.

Nice video! I have the Minn Kota Endura 55 (approx. 1.3 hp) on the Excursion 4 and used the GPS to test the speed. On the # 5 forward setting, we maxed out at 3.7 mph with 3 people on board. It's not going to break any speed records but I am real happy with it so far. I am trying to figure out how to make a floor and canopy without breaking the bank. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for the response. I am debating between Sevylor HF360, Seahawk II, and the Excursion 5. What I like about the E 5 is that it is wider and looks for spacious and of course the lower price. But what I am concerned with is the material it is made of. The other two, especially the seahawk II, I believe are made of tougher material. What will your response be to what I stated above? Are you overall satisfied with the boat and the motor? Thank you very much in advance.
