The main character, SHUN HATTA, is a braid craftsman of "SHOEN Kumihimo" which has been in Uji City for over 70 years. When we think of braids, we think of kimono sashes, but HATTA is constantly thinking about beautiful new braids that meet the needs of modern people. Kumihimo techniques are said to have been introduced from the continent, and it is said that there are more than 300 types of finished patterns depending on the color and number of threads and how they are braided. Braided cords can be broadly divided into “flat cords,” “round cords,” and “square cords” based on their cross-sectional shape. Since HATTA joined the company at the age of 28, he started training in making braids. In recent years, in my 9th year as a Kumihimo craftsman, I am in charge of planning and marketing new products by making use of my experience as a craftsman. In collaboration with "Ueba Esou", which manufactures and sells Japanese painting paints in Kyoto for over 260 years, we plan and sell accessories for the Gion Festival, and we are also working on the development of original goods for the "SHOEN" shop. is inserted. Kumihimo, which combines beauty and ease of use, has been devised and used in various ways. HATTA is now trying to incorporate new threads into the technology that has been handed down for over a thousand years.
