50 Ways to Improve Geometry Dash

I've been playing Geometry Dash for ages now, and over that time I've come up with all sorts of small quality-of-life improvements that I would love to see in a future update! This video goes over 50 fanmade ideas for GD that are all somewhat realistic and easy to program.

I don't really expect any of these things to show up in Geometry Dash 2.2, nor do I really want that considering the update has already taken several years. Consider this video to be the Official Unofficial Sequel to 100 Annoying Things in Geometry Dash™

Plot Twist: RobTop watches this and is now working on them to add even more extra time to GD 2.2
  • @GDColon
RobTop dropped a like on my tweet about this video! What could it mean? :_ColonThonk:
  • 51: Add “Gauntlet Attempts” (in red text) for levels that are in Gauntlets, such as OuterSpace (Fire Gauntlet) or Spooky Light (Shadow Gauntlet).
  • @marcelsyt
I would also like a "jump to %" option in practice so that you don't have to play all the way to get there every time you leave the level

One small thing I'd like fixed. Making it so that clicking out of GD in full screen doesn't make the game go WTF for like 10 seconds. Or make it so that GD isn't simply just layered above so if you use a hotkey to control audio and you somehow click on the Audio scaler on your desktop through GD, it blasts loudly into your ears even though it should not be able to be clicked on. IDK Just small stuff from me.

7:06 DISABLE PARTICLES YES that is definitely why way layouts seem better when tested in the level editor playback rather than the normal one AND ALSO PULSING (maybe also some button to make non pulsing orbs or those things that pulse BUT still the same size )

7:31 It would be funny if you could also increase the shake strength above its normal limit lol
  • @Puffman728
I would love the option to refresh other player's profiles just like you can refresh your own. Its annoying when someone says "new post" but you already entered their profile once, meaning that you have to go a completely roundabout way to see

    Easter eggs:
0:15 - The textbox on the screen has added text to it saying "Well, unless you hack. I'm a textbox, not a cop."

0:39 - On the left side of the screen, Colon has a "homework" folder with an image of Megumin from KonoSuba. 🤔

0:41 - The title of the image file that Colon is editing is called "kind stranger is dead. no more reddit gold.jpg".

0:59 - For a few frames, you can see a screenshot from "The Helpful Fox Senko-san" where Senko is about to step on the main character, Kuroto, as massage treatment.

2:25 - The saved levels displayed create the sentence "Hey all, Scott here".
This is a reference to ScottTheWoz, who says "Hey all, Scott here" at the start of a video.

2:45 - This one should explain itself.

3:30 - The level Colon is editing is a copy of Viking Arena from Geometry Dash Meltdown.

3:58 - The amount of objects in the level Colon is editing is over the object limit.

 4:19 - Colon crashes at 69%.

4:40 - The top 2 comments displayed on the screen have 42069 and 1337 likes.
The comment at the top was posted 13 months ago, which is displayed as 1 year ago normally, and the bottom comment was posted 9 years ago, which is more than Geometry Dash's current age. The top comment also says something about Noobas, a Russian GD player, hacking something.

4:44 - The 3 displayed replies on ViPriN's comment are all "send my level".
All of the people who replied have meme names such as Doge21, referring to the Doge meme, and Walter42, referring to the dog looking directly at a camera meme (Walter).
The comment that ViPriN made has a timestamp of 10 weeks ago, which normally would display as 2 months ago.
The amount of likes on ViPriN's comment is the equivalent to the maximum of spreadsheet rows in Microsoft Excel versions 97-2003.

4:46 - In the "edit comment" box, "jk i hate it lol" can be seen crossed out.

4:57 - The amount of practice attempts that Colon has is a number that shall not be mentioned.

6:32 - Colon made a "virgin vs chad" meme using the two half-blocks.

6:50 - Colon 4 spikes in a row with a text object above it saying "how". Normally in Geometry Dash a player cannot jump over 4 spikes in the normal speed mode. Hence the "how" above the spikes.

7:00 - The editable colour icon that ranges from 10 - 999 has the number 69 displayed.

7:14 - Colon pasted the funny bone man from undertale onto the screen.

7:19 - The level that colon is editing is Fingerdash from the full version of Geometry Dash.

 7:56 - Colon has a 65-character password entered.

8:05 - In the description of the level displayed on screen, Colon wrote "i don't remember who did the part at 41% but it freaking sucks so i deleted it".

8:11 - Jyro said "sir this is a dennys" after Colon posted the level file.
8:15 - The title of the textbox that appeared is called "nope.avi". This is a reference to a video where the engineer from Team Fortress 2 extends his neck and says "nope".

8:50 - Colon almost says "...for quenching my eternal thirst for furry art" but interrupts himself to say "fanart" instead.

There's probably more than that but those were all of the ones I could find :P (Edit from over a year in the future: YouTube fucked up the double spaces in this comment so I rebuilt it.

"The shift keys would be perfect for 2 player mode!" Sticky Keys: Am I a joke to you? (i know i can disable sticky keys)
  • @altairwithnoS
I think it would be nice in 2.2 for there to be an option to change between updates. Like, there could be a button that lists all updates, and if you pressed one, the game would basically go back in time to that update. It might be a bit hard to implement, but I think it would be cool.
  • You know a video is good when you want to rewatch it over and over again
