"Oh no, the ocean is too salty for us to handle... We must climb to the mountains and flap our arms until we inevitably evolve into birds." - the Zora probably Jokes aside, the Zora evolving into Rito makes a LOT more sense when you take into account they need Valoo's scale to gain their wings. There was likely some form of magic involved with their evolution into birds.

That thumbnail is absolutely beautiful man!

I like how the statues for the goddess pearls look like Pikmin.
  • @derperpines
Forsaken Fortress is such an oddball. It’s an old Gerudo fortress… yet there are Sheikah emblems decorated throughout the place.

The whole Dragon Roost Island being Zora's Domain thing is weird, especially since it matches up with Death Mountain perfectly with the cloud ring around the volcano's peak, the presence of bomb flowers, Valoo being a clear reference to Volvagia, and Dragon Roost Cavern being an homage to both Dodongo's Cavern and Death Mountain Crater from OoT. My personal theory is that earlier in the game's development, the Gorons were supposed to inhabit Dragon Roost Island and the Rito would inhabit Greatfish Isle, but after the Greatfish Isle dungeon was scrapped they moved the Rito to DRI the Gorons were demoted to just being traveling merchants. It never really made sense to me why, if the Rito were evolved Zora, their guardian deity was Valoo rather than Jabun.
  • I love Wind Waker's locations for the ambiguity of them, with them still being iconic. On that front, in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Lurelin Village looks almost exactly like Outset Island in terms of its architecture and geography. Also, I like the idea that the Forbidden Woods are the Kokiri Forest taken over by nature, and I also like to think that the Tower of the Gods is a precursor to the Sheikah and Zonai shrines.

No Private Oasis??? The most iconic island in Wind Waker hands down.
  • Hard to believe a seal was able to take down Gannondorf, although it had the water terrain advantage.

18:50 Still more than Tears of a Kingdom which pretty much removes all old Sheikah tech.

day 90 of mentioning that on 6/6/2023 hyrule gamer made a video where, at 43.46, he spent 12 seconds simping about the ancient gerudo soldiers

Nintendo needs to rerelease wind waker on the switch. Twilight princess too. They should also release the four swords trilogy as well and make a new four swords game in the style of tears of the kingdom. Spirit tracks needs a sequel. Also conclude the hero of time trilogy.

"version of Ocarina of Time's Gohma" - Gohma is a reoccurring boss that first appeared in the original NES Zelda game's Dungeon 6 (Dragon) and as a miniboss in Dungeon 8 (Lion). Since then Gohma has appeared in many other Zelda games. In Link's Awakening, two Gohmas are the Guardians of Dungeon 5 (Catfish's Maw), with the Ocarina of Time Gohma being the third appearance of this monster in the games. (They also appeared a few times in the cartoon and on the CD-I.)
  • I like to believe that the cry of the ghost ship that happens when you recieve the shard before forcing you out is the cry of the Volleys you fight in phantom hourglass, and the ghost ship changed between games because the lack of triforce shard, and also the encounter with the hero of winds forced an evolution of the ship to take place in between games in order to protect itself better.

I would like to play wind waker one day whenever it comes out on the switch or the switch 2.
  • @teina123
Thank you for this I'm still relatively new to Legend of Zelda! And I appreciate the effort you put into making Zelda content.
  • The ghost ship was seen again, in Phantom Hourglass. Might be worth taking into account

i know many zelda theorists hate the dreaded z word, but the tower of the gods really reminds me of zonai aesthetics. i mean the boss would fit right in with the constructs in tears of the kingdom. we know they have some relation to the sheikah and to hylia, so maybe they was some earlier predecessor to the zonai that built it.

Is it possible that the Tower of the Gods is this timeline's version of the Light Temple/Temple of Time? It was fairly close to the castle in Ocarina of Time, and in Twilight Princess you have to ascend a pretty tall tower to reach the Dominion Rod. Plus, both locations involve moving statues from room to room to progress through the dungeon! Id love to hear your thoughts on this
