    Was a good performance. Promising.

If we were clinical we would have won by at least 3
  • We had a few really strong phases in this game, should have won it in regular time. The lack of fullbacks is what cost us the goal and we could have scored at least one more as well. Amad looked brilliant again, dribbled into the box as if there was nobody in his way. Garnacho did what he's been doing since he's come into the squad. I still think he's at his best coming of the bench, but could easily steal Rashfords spot if he doesn't find his form soon.
  • I don't know what you watched but for me rashford doesn't deserve to start ahead of garnacho
  • Nah this video is unfair. There were a lot more positives in this game than what the video lets on. We were dangerous every time we got near their box. We were able to work our way into their half well. There were a few rushed passes in the 2nd half, but in general we tried to look after the ball much more than last season - and that's with a lopsided defense cuz we didn't have a left back and played our main CB there, and our 3rd choice right winger at RB later on. The biggest complaint is we didn't finish the chances we had.

I was pleasantly surprised with Casemiro in this game. Passing, recovery and reading of the game was much better than what we saw last season. We still cannot rely on him though, ideally we get another 2 CDM's and move Casemiro on.
  • The formular is clear. With settling of new signings, identification of the first players of 15 of the squad, consistent training, and the return of players like shaw and Yoro from injury, the team will be playing beautiful football. Of course it's United, a team that thrives in chaos. Thus we have to expect to sometimes cheer them on with our hearts in our mouth. But we love them regardless. I believe this is the season of shining for players like Amad, De Ligt, Mount, and Ugarte (of course we gonna get him), as they are players looking for redemption, having been cast aside in the previous 1 to 2 seasons because of the competition they faced wherever they were and injuries in some cases. GGMU

I didn’t see anything wrong or confused about this tactics. You are just being concerned for nothing. City is no push over. For me this is the best tactics of eth that made me so confident as a United fan

Things we learnt 1. We need ugarte; we also need casemiro 2. Garnacho on the left and Amad on the right is better 3. Rashford better as a substitute 4. This is not all; we need to see how united play against teams that sit back. 5. Build up from the back is terrible; onana long balls are horrible; he needs a tall player good in the air 6. Deligt is needed. 7. This team needs a good run of form
  • I think we we're the better team. We were unlucky not to win it. Overall, a really good performance and I think the new coaching staff look to have done a great job in link ups and patterns in the final third. We definitely missed having an out and out striker on there. Would love to have seen Zirkzee out there for the final 20 minutes to learn more about what he's about. But as you say, it's a competitive friendly - so not that important in terms of results, but very insightful in terms of how we are going to approach the season. City are the best team around, and we looked good against them. Can't wait for this season to start proper. GGMU.
  • It was a good game when you think about who we played, players who were available and also that nobody is 100% fit yet. I agree with what you said and hope more new players coming into the team can make a pretty good and experienced team in togetherness with some brilliant young players United are lucky to have. I truly believe Mainoo, Garnacho, Amad and Højlund have very bright futures in the team and Mainoo will probably become one of the best players in the league in a few years if he continues in last season's form and his Euros show.

Always look forward to your objective breakdowns AJ, good work man! I echo a lot of of your thoughts in this too. There's a noticeable improvement in style of play that's transferring onto the players, but to pronounce that style of play to full effectiveness, we need to replace that midfield. 2 would be great, but I'd be content if it's just Berge for now. There's a lot of positive things to take away from this game, particularly on how we don't look constantly vulnerable by adjusting our shape. Attacking wise, Amad Diallo is the guy, he's going to have a great season. Garnacho off the bench needs to be role. Rashy fustrating, but still believe he can offer substantial output this season which we need upfront. More work to be done, but overall the patterns are improving.

United were the better team on the day. 1-1 flattered City. I feel there will be a marked improvement this season, 4 or 5 new players plus a healthy input from the younger players coming through the ranks. The injuries just cannot continue, not 2 seasons running (fingers crossed). Sir Jim has made a big difference, and he is determined to continue.
  • Rashford needs to learn how to press and cut the passing lanes at the same time.

Signing Sende Berge and loan move for G. Ramos or Ivan Toney, with another Mf will be good edition for current squad
