You knew this Direct was fire when: -MvC2 was announed in the middle of the direct without buildup -New Legend of Zelda game in which you play as Zelda wasn't the last game announced -Metroid Prime 4. And of course Hello Kitty Island Adventure 😁

Metroid Prime 4 is absolutely running on the current Switch, Nintendo wouldn't really gain anything by "stealth revealing" footage from their new console. Also, the trailer has the Switch logo at it's start so I'm pretty sure it would be false advertising if the footage shown was not from the current Switch. People did this same conversation with TotK and Sparks of Hope too and were wrong then, games like Pokemon ScVi really made people underestimate what the Switch can put out with a talented team making the game.

I encourage people to give A Link Between Worlds a try if they can (3DS). It was the first Zelda in which the team broke conventions reusing a known map, coming off of Skyward Sword's development, where Fujibayashi felt the stiffness inside the hierarchy of developers, and understood things needed a change. Fast forward we now have the first Zelda with the princess as a protagonist, which seems suspiciously similar to some puzzle ideas of Tears of the Kingdom, so much you could say this next Zelda seems the 2D prototipe they did for Breath of the Wild, but for Tears of the Kingdom.

I felt we were in for something special when the Direct started off with Mario & Luigi Brothership. If this is indeed the Switch's swansong, it's definitely going out with a bang. What a Direct!

Really surprised to hear people think MP4 looks next-gen. It looks like Metroid Prime Remastered to me, maybe a little worse in terms of textures. That Capcom collection was the announcement of the show for me though, MvC2 is finally free 🙏
