The Equals are a British pop, R&B and rock group formed in North London, England in 1965. They are best remembered for their million-selling chart-topper, "Baby, Come Back", though they had several other chart hits in the UK and Europe. Eddy Grant founded the group with Pat Lloyd, John Hall, and brothers Derv and Lincoln Gordon, and they were noted as being "the first major interracial rock group in the UK" and "one of the few racially mixed bands of the era"

The Equals should have been much more successful than they were. They were so talented and their songs have proved to be timeless. They sound just as good today.

Back in the 1980s I worked with Lincoln Gordon, the bass player in a warehouse in Tottenham. What a top fella he was.

Eddie Grant was part of this group in the mid-60's and wrote this song which was covered by the Clashon their Sandinesta album.Eddie Grant had a hit song in 1980 with Electric Avenue.

If I had to pick a band, it would be this one. For me they are the most provocative thing and the lyrics are simple and sharp. Perfect.
