That's why I'm glad I went with the gen. 2 S & B particle separator. You need air velocity to spin the dirt particles out & you don't get that air velocity over the cyclonic vanes other than the air being sucked in by induction with the air intake mounted that way. With a forward facing air intake you have the speed of the car added to the air velocity & with the S & B variable speed scavenge fan to assist the process with even more air velocity to spin out the dirt & dust as it flows over the cyclonic vanes. I'd say you're on the way to dusting that engine with the amount of dust that is loading up that paper filter, they can only filter so much & they still let fine particles through by the limit of their design. The other thing you may want to try is to raise the fitting point height of the particle separator to the upper roll bar, the air might be slightly cleaner up there.

Was the filter new and clean before the separator-? That'd be the real way to test - take to dezert, before and after video then see how much dirt gets into stock filter element after using KWT .
  • I clean my filter every morning, blow the belt off , check the oil etc before i head to ride the morning of... There's noway i would ride for three days and not clean the filter.. makes no sense...

Truth be told, I'm not impressed with the amount of sand that entered the air box and filter.

I thought the results were pretty damn good. Some people have ridiculous expectations
