The code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. -captain barbossa

Those rules about not shooting medics or temporary medics don't work in Ukraine, on either side. They drone each other while the wounded or dead are being carried.
  • @SoloKyoto
The thing about the "rules of war" is they only matter when both sides believe in them and follow them. Everything is fair in war as the law has no bearing on the drive to survive and when it comes down to the bottom line people will do ANYTHING to survive.
  • Every military: "We follow the rules, honest as they are a guide." It honestly falls on the individuals to police their conflict.

As an Iraq combat medic i can confirm the enemy didnt care or repect the rules of war. It was advantageous for them not to. No one in my unit wore the red cross and all of us were armed. No point in following medic rules if the enemy won't

Meanwhile Japan: extra points for hitting a bullseye on that Red Cross

theres alot of war crimes that are swept under the rug an old guy from my job was a veteran and he told me they abuse these rules anyway. He told me that you arent supposed to use anti tank guns on people because the rule says it can only be used on equipment, this dude told me their sergeants say aim for their tool belts to kill them because they are considered equipment.

It's not an argument for rules to not exist, but All of the rules of war have pretty much been broken in every war. Since policing is always done by the victor, it's by nature of selective. The whole system seems ridiculous.
  • @metoo7557
"All soldiers must obey" Haha, that's a good one. You can't find a war, without these rules being broken. by all sides.

Rules of War: Exist WW2 Japan: I’m gonna pretend I didn’t see that

Love the Agent 47 reference when talking about disguises. Adding the garrote is a nice touch.

"We're good guys, so screw those rules!" - every war criminal, ever
  • @DocM.
19:31 It was nice of Agent 47 to make an appearance 😂 Just need that subtle head til
  • @neofulcrum5013
Can you guys cover the history of guerrilla warfare tactics?
  • @connorlyons2376
The term “alls fair in war” has been around in some derivative for much longer than any signed convention
  • @Ozzy08018

"War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over." ~William T. Sherman

Lol i love how when the child soldier character was being sentenced to execution he just had his arms crossed and rolled his eyes as if his father was lecturing him
