Next to the banks of the Mississippi River is the Delta region, a land that feels removed from America. A distinct culture with a turbulent history... home of blues music and some of the warmest people in the world. Join me as we get lost on a road trip and learn from the ground up from the locals what this part of America is like.

Being from a town like Alligator, MS, I'm glad I made it out. I read books to occupy the boredom of growing up in an improverished town. Graduated high school, graduated college, got a career, worked in corporate America for 10 years, moved to California, started and maintaining a smoothie business. I've always had to work twice as hard, but I made it, coming from a 37 year old black woman, I always believed I could despite my environment and basic resourcecs. Never give up!

The energy of the lady in Greenville was amazing. These are the type of people who make the world a better place.

I'm not even an American, but I find your videos very, very interesting and informative all the time. To see real America without bias and filters. Thank you Peter.❤

Hi Peter, as a southerner, I would like to thank you for the respect that you have shown my region of the country. Too often southerners are negatively stereotyped. Your videos show the beauty, kindness, and unique culture of this region. Thanks.

Peter, your documentation of america opens our eyes that we do not have a racial divide in this country. We have a class divide. Which in most places disproportionately affects black people. When we have communities like this of impoverished white and black people they are all in it together.

The Mayor getting in touch with the Dollar General to build a store speaks to his ability as mayor. Good for him! He clearly cares about his community.

Born in raised in rural Mississippi and Alabama. We all really do love each other and try to work hard together. Thank you for showcasing us with respect.

I live in small town Mississippi and I can say without a doubt some of the best people you’ll ever meet are here! True sense of community! Being a poor state- everyone’s either currently struggling or has struggled before so the sense of empathy is heightened for sure! People will literally give the shirt off their backs! ❤
  • I love salt of the earth people like the Mayor, the man in camo and the first gentleman you first featured. They're real honest people.
  • @onerva.
I love how the gentleman in Alligator with the walker finally caught up with you down the road, truly speaks volumes of the size of that place!

Thank you for sharing America. The rural poor have been cast down as small minded and evil. I find them to be the most generous and genuine people in America
  • @rakeemfry4760
Im from Greenville but I left Mississippi 5 years ago & was so excited to someone shed light on my hometown & the delta! There is a lot of history there that people never see. SN: you passed by my church at 30:53 thanks Peter! I hope you enjoy your journey
  • @luticia
I live in Germany. I love your videos because they are the mirror of people, culture and country. No drama, no fancy music, no special effects. Only people and country that talk for themselves. Thank you!

Born and raised in Greenville, MS, now a physician in Atlanta at Emory. Proud

i’m from America, and Peter, you make me want to do what you do. Explore the country even more and I don’t mean tourist spots, but the real America that not many people know about or (unfortunately) care about. You have a passion for this stuff, you have a good heart, and you are a special person. Thank you for what you do, we appreciate you so much!

Born and raised in the Mississippi delta. Left 8 years ago to start a new life with my now wife in las vegas and started my business - Down4sound. I never knew that watching this video would make me emotional. I've been down every street / road you traveled in this video hundreds of times. I go back often to visit my parents in Greenville. Every time I visit I feel like I'm visiting another world or moment in time. To now be in the .1% financial bracket and to see the picture you painted / shared on where I came from made me have a deep realization. Anything is possible in this life through adapting / hard work / consistency. Thank you for making the video as a lot of people have no idea.
  • @smashleybreaks
RIP to the gentlelady that lost her mom. I lost my mom suddenly too but she was 56. Love your parents while you still have them. Don't wait until it's too late and they are no longer around for you to love on them.

The gentleman in the passenger seat with glasses and orange T-shirt deserves a raise regardless of how much he makes. Well spoken, eloquent even. Most of all HE GETS IT. He has a motivation behind what he’s doing. He’s not just interested in a paycheck but understands the long term big picture of the livelihood for his town. And he’s working towards that!
  • @johnpalacios5914
I’m amazed that as tough as it is there people are so friendly and have a lot of pride. All you ever hear people say is negative things about this part of the country but it’s nice to have someone go there from the outside and look at all the positive things they have going on.
