    The secret ingredient: hard drugs.

2:32 The recipe change when they started putting actual pumpkin in the latte is what killed the flavor to me. It used to be SO good and I didn't care it didn't have actual pumpkin because the latte is called "pumpkin SPICE", which has always been a spice mixture used for pumpkin pies since the 1890's. For over a hundred years prior to the latte it was understood as a spice that compliments pumpkin, not a spice that is made from pumpkin.
  • I was watching this episode with my 4 year old sister in the room, I had to get up and leave and she runs out and says “Bubba I wanna watch food theory!” I’ve never smiled so hard in my life
  • I really can't lie Mat Pat really struck on the idea of Food Theory. This show is amazing!

For those who are wondering about the peppermint mocha, there is no season for it, it is year round. We keep the peppermint that is used for it year round for other drinks, the only thing we don’t have is the chocolate curls that goes on top of the whipped cream. So if the chocolate crumbles matter to you that much, then that is when you should be worried about it running out
  • As a Brit I've never understood the collective freakout about PSL. On the other hand, I'm now super curious about strawberry cream cake & "cheesy" drinks! #thanksMatPat

"pumpkin spice refers to the spices used in pumpkin pie and doesn't actually taste like pumpkins" is the "Frankenstein was the name of the doctor not the monster" of this decade
  • People: FRAUD! PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES DON'T HAVE PUMPKIN! Me: That's why it's called Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Spice does not have pumpkin either!
  • My friend once said “I don’t care that I’m basic. Popular things are popular because they’re good.” That really stuck with me.

For anyone curious, the "cheese" added to the drinks mentioned near the end of the episode are very much cream cheese/cheese cake-like... not like sharp cheddar or anything 😂

Short answer: Starbucks practically made an energy drink Long answer: Your brain is stupid and will do anything to get instantly rewarded

the fact that pumpkin spice kraft dinner is something that ACTUALLY exists is almost frightening

First Pumpkin Spice, then Salted Caramel, and now Lotus Biscuits Flavours that someone realised would taste good as a general flavour and sets off a taste bud revolution in every corner of the edible market
  • @Lexi-wi4it
I'm actually allergic to pumpkins, so I figured out the hard way that the latte does in fact now have pumpkin in it. I was one of the few people that was actually sad the pumpkin spice latte now has actual pumpkin in it. 😂
  • Good to see matpat talking about the frontal lobe again without losing his mind

Starbucks in Spring: “we just gotta make it to fall to survive another year”
  • The sense of smell is amazing (taste will always be my favorite tho). There was this one odor remover spray my mom would use back I'd say about....7 years ago, and that's what the house would smell like, it had a VERY distinct smell to it. She got it again for the first time in years. Stepping inside all I could think of was when I was playing Minecraft on an august evening, where the sun was shining warm beams of light inside. The days when life was simply remembering to do my homework before going into school the next day.....
