Tom Ford single handedly brought Gucci back to life! 🥰

No wonder Tom Ford’s line today is so hipped. His suits are so cool. You can tell the guy can design and got taste and style. Fashion come and go but style…they last

De Sole is the definition of loyalty He worked so hard for Gucci.
  • My takeaway from this video: The ability to reinvent yourself and your company is super important.

My takeaway from the whole story. Greed. Doesn’t matter how much 1 person has, they just want more & then more again. If the Gucci family were just happy with what they had (which was enough for anyone to live comfortably) then the Gucci company would still be with the Gucci family to this day.
  • Years ago I watched a documentary about Maurizio’s death, it was fascinating to learn about the family mess involved, but I appreciate how this highlights the business aspect of Gucci’s story as well - not just the family drama. While many don’t appreciate how far Gucci has stepped away from its traditional (sexy) roots, the new direction has appealed to millennials world wide, propelling Kering’s earnings to $20.1 billion in 2021, up 35.2% from 2020.

Tom Ford, Galiano and Gianni Versace … the three most talented designers in my eyes. They created their own world their shows were crazy good. It was art back then mixed with mafia and business. Today is very boring and no real designers as they were in the 90’s.

Great documentary! A clear and concise 30 minute breakdown.

I wonder how the Gucci family feel knowing that the business they started is now owned by the pinault family

Paulo died a pauper, alone and forgotten by everyone. This story is about the business of Gucci not the Greek tragedy of the family

Crazy how the movie ignored all of this in favor of a soap opera plot line about Patrizia lol This is why you should never take Hollywood biopics seriously

In the Tom Ford era, Gucci released their best fragrances since their beginning. When he left their fragrance releases are probably amongst the worst.

I appreciate this examination of the business side of the company, not the family drama.
  • I was working in Gucci sloane street at the when we were given Gucci shares,27:11; it was so surreal, and of course they bought it all back after (PPR) Pinault Bought into the company! 28:58;Tom was very good for Gucci and he dared to push the boat right out! 30:53; That was a real shock to everyone when the Tom-Dom team resigned; Tom, and De Sole were very hands on!! Right now under Michele, he constantly goes back to the "Gucci by Tom Ford" era archives and picks out a thing or two that made Gucci popular; If it sells why ever not?!
  • Gucci need to give praise to the Hip Hop Culture that brought them out of the Gutter in the 1990s and the 2000 and that is the truth.IPO
