Published 2020-12-26

  • I liked blu-ray but the first time I experienced a 4K UHD HDR physical disk on my very first 4K Sony television using a Panasonic 4K disc player (The greatest showman) I literally fell in love with movies again. It reminded me of the Picture, sound and full immersion of going to the movie theater. After that all I wanted to do was watch all my favorites and new movies in 4K UHD HDR (Dolby vision) physical media is why I love movies.

I agree 4K does look and sound better ..I have just watched 2001 and Wonder Woman in 4K and wow they both look sharp and sound powerful.. Physical media forever.
  • @CoinOpTV
Thanks for the video - still collecting physical media (mostly 4K) in 2021

Facts. I started upgrading my favorite blu-ray movies to 4k after buying a 85 inch x900h with a Atmos speaker setup which includes a Sony str-dn1080 receiver. Watching movies in 4K HDR with Atmos is a whole new experience for me and I am enjoying every minute of it.

Physical media for your most favorite movies always. The 4k movies are so amazing, you just need to research before you buy. Some 4k movies don't cut it. Always research each individual movie.

I understand people not wanting to move on to 4K stuff due to the extra cost, but for people to say there is no difference or that the new features are just gimmicks is just plain wrong.

You are wonderful commentator, clear, concise, honest, humble, respectable. Keep it up, you earned a sub from me!

Well Done. You are one of the few reviewers that gives us samples of video or sound to illustrate your points. It helps a lot most times!
  • @kthx1138
The flashlight test: HDR rules!!! Red: I noticed that on Top Gun 4K too. HDR is not a gimmick. It is INTEGRAL to seeing all the contrast range from highlights to shadows in a film or digital source.

Man I really like your voices with the review it's really inviting, You do what you do negative comment don't even matter. People gonna complain regardless just like expensive speakers wire and audio cables. UHD 4K disc is really better than streaming .

I didn't have any spare time for anything fun such as home audio/video since starting my businesses in the early 90's then family 2002 but kids are grown and business is scaled way back so I have recently gotten back into serious home/auto audio and home video. The changes are mind blowing to me and am so thankful to people such as yourself and the quality information that you put out there. Thank you sir!

I’m 41 years old and always been a keen fan of seeing films at their best (I even saw Star Wars ep 2&3 in digital on DLP projectors which was the future back then). I’ve grown up on vhs then moved to dvd then to Blu-ray and now 4k and 4k is the best way to watch films without question, it’s a cleaner more natural tighter image that Blu-ray just doesn’t offer. Add HDR to the mix and you seeing details and colours you never did. The best upgrade it offers is to older films made on traditional film, films you watched on vhs and dvd. The matrix which I’m going through at the moment is a massive night and day difference, beetle juice aswell is another example. 4k films 99% of the time are brand new scans of the original negative whereas blurays are mostly taken from a digital master so that’s another plus for 4k. If you a genuine film fan 4k is the best format to watch films without doubt
  • @jamesorsby7553
I've got a mixture of both, and part of it depends on what 4k blu ray player you're using... they're not all created equal. I have a Sony UBP-X800m2, and it does a very good job.
  • @Duuu93
Don't matter how much streaming services are growing, I still like to have a physical copy of my favorite movies. I have the Jurassic Park trilogy 2011 blu-ray and need to find my old vhs tape. I also don't like to depend on online services for everything, I have my subscriptions but like the backups just in case
  • @donjaun540
Great review. I agree with you. I do not shy away from supporting 4k especially if it's on sale.
  • @dallinjudy5427
You a great at explaining the pros of the 4k format thanks I hope this format lives on

Good info and finally a content creator that doesn't feel the need to shout all the time. Cheers dude, keep 'em coming :)
  • I choose to buy 4K Blu-ray discs over regular Blu-ray discs and streaming for quite a few reasons. #1- I only buy one to two movies every month so I'm not dumping hundreds and hundreds of dollars every month into the format. since my collection grows slowly buying the premium format is not overly expensive. #2- HDR, in my opinion, is the biggest improvement over standard Blu-ray. #3- although I don't have a Dolby Atmos setup, I know that one day if I do decide to get one, all of my discs will be able to support that format. #4- I only buy movies that I know I'm going to watch over and over again and mean something special to me. And because of that it means a lot to have it in the best format possible.
  • @LifeofBliss
Nice man... That was a good analysis of what the differences were. And you showed that well. I'm still living in the past with my 1080p projector and the only 4k display I have is my bar TV lol (and my computer monitor). Looking forward to making the jump to 4K this next year, expecting I'll be watching a lot of movies over!
