A weak man will brag that he can be strong. A stronger man will admit that he can be weak.

As a black African, it's incredibly hard for people to seek help for mental health issues. This is a BREAKTHROUGH

I'm feeling this talk. Without mental health, EVERYTHING ELSE BREAKS DOWN. When I deal with stress, I distance myself from the stress...take a vacation, take time for self. And be with family.
-
I really needed this. Perfect timing.

Great message that applies to everyone. Men especially need to hear this.

Just 2 days I nearly ended my life. This was my 3rd attempt within 7 months. Yesterday I made a appointment for a therapist that specializes in cases like mine. And now this video came into my notifications. :)

My heart sank when the audience clapped for when he said African men don’t express or process their feelings at 2:11

Great message for anyone. Mental health is still very much stigmatized in many parts of the world, even as the number of those living with mental health issues increase.

I was listening to a podcast that said, “it’s important to live life by design rather than emotion. Basically, sticking to a routine is what allows us to be the healthiest version of ourselves (especially when you're fighting these demons ex. OCD for me). I’ve had to overhaul how I approach taking care of my brain (exercise, journaling, studying etc) by practising mediocre consistency. Now I try to put in consistent 50-60% effort into my habits - to make sure I do it I began recording it and posting it on youtube channel. Historically I have a habit of going too hard, not being able to sustain the Herculean effort, giving up and hating myself. So now I’m trying to give a small, consistent small effort everyday. And its crazy how it adds up.

This had a huge impact on my heart. Thank you sir for a much needed message

"Being honest about how we feel does not make us weak, it makes us human" SO TRUE. Thank you Sangu Delle.

We need people like him in every african country.

What a beautiful talk given by a lovely human being. I've watched countless hours of documentaries & talks on mental illness & suicide. I've attended university lectures on human psychology & read dozens of books. And yet, this man's vulnerability, courage, & honesty brought tears to my eyes. I lost my father to suicide when he was only 47 & I was 24. I had no idea he had been suffering in silence. He never got to meet any of his grandchildren or my husband. Untreated mental illness causes unspeakable pain; it can also lead to death. Please speak up & speak out -- you might save lives.

Unfortunately, the stigma of mental health is pervasive in the Black community in the States but I think it's changing. The younger generation is willing to talk about it openly and seek help.

Beautifully articulated. Such an important message that impacts millions of people worldwide.

this is honestly one of the best ted talks I've watched yet !!

People think that talking and dealing with mental health is something taboo but we all need help and should speak to somebody. This is a great video
-
I know that i cannot entirally relate due to my circumstances, however as somebody who's diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, i found your talk so meaningful, especially when you spoke about being there for your friend, so many people are quick to judge and label people as crazy once they feel the label gives them license to. Great talk, thank you.

It is important to understand yourself emotionally, if you don't give it a watch.
