My aunt who was a nurse called my ovulation pain mittelschmertz when I was 14. She also suggested I lay with my pelvis slightly raised. She was right about both, as I discovered a few years later when my mom finally got me to an OB-GYN who actually listened and didn't just dismiss me as a whiny teenager. She was also my first ever female doctor and she did several tests. I discovered I had a whole slew of conditions - endometriosis, PCOS, a tipped uterus (for which she prescribed a slantboard - go Auntie!), and found I had a uterine fibroid the diameter of a dime, which in fibroid terms is exceptionally large. I had a fibroidectomy and my pain was reduced significantly. That doctor really changed my life.

Ovulation pain is worse than menstrual cramps for me. I don't feel it every month but it's definitely ovulation-related and it's like a quick sharp, stabbing sensation on one side or the other. Fortunately it doesn't usually last longer than a few minutes but it hurts like a MFer.

i honestly wasn't sure whether or not the fallopian tubes were attached to the ovaries or not, but it's interesting to know that they were in fact NOT ATTACHED to the ovaries.
  • I have learned so much more from this channel than I ever did in health class throughout highschool. We didn't need the fear mongering with sex, periods & pregnancy. Honestly it led to so much confusion and I ended up pregnant at 16 because I was taught something so drastically different. Sadly I miscarried and haven't held a pregnancy past 6 weeks (with the exception of my ectopic which almost killed me) but this channel has taught me the things we should have all learned a lot younger and I'm grateful that you do this. This is 100% a channel I would recommend to my daughter and/or son(s) if I'm blessed to have any kids.

During the beginning of the return to work after COVID, we had to take our temperature before entering the work area. I asked what the threshold was to be sent home...99.2😂😂😂 i then had to explain to my all male supervisor team that woman can reach that temp when ovulating. Then were at a loss for words.

Please make a video all about IUDs!! How do they prevent pregnancy? What does your “cycle” look like when you have one? What happens if you do get pregnant with an IUD? I think a lot of people would benefit from an in-depth breakdown! You’re the best!
  • When I tried to get pregnant with my second child, it was not as easy as the first time. So I went to see my doc and check my ovulation. She said she sees a very small egg on the ultrasonic, but it is too small to become a baby... well, this "too small egg" is 11 years old now 😂

All teenagers should watch these videos now that abortion is illegal in many states.
  • Scishow channel did an awesome video about stem cell research. They summarized that menstrual blood/fluid typically contains lots of stem cells. These stem cells are able to be grown much faster than bone marrow stem cells (the prior gold standard) into all 5 tissue group types. So, growing new organs and manufacturing new treatment substances - without the issues of fetal stem cell sources - is so possible from this. ❤

I remember learning about sex ed when I was 11. The diagrams genuinely made it look like the fallopian tubes were attached to the ovaries. So, yeah, mind blown!

the fact the channel members are called membryos was the tipping point for me to join, so fucking good.

PSA for peeps like me since you didn’t mention this here or in your discharge video: it can also be totally normal to get some brown/bloody discharge at ovulation! Thought something was wrong with me til I saw the doctor 🤷‍♀️
  • @CraiiZeD
I get the middle pains! Sometimes a bleed with ovulation, too. I always used to joke with my friends that I knew which side the egg was coming from because the cramps would be either be on the left or the right side.
  • @graphrodite
whoa! the chemical attraction that leads the ovary and tube closer to each other was so interesting to learn about! plant pollen does the same thing, the pistil releases chemicals that attract pollen to it for accurate attachment. our bodies and our planet are so fascinating! the oocyte information is so cool too, the number one rule in anthropology and science: everything you know can be completely upended tomorrow haha
  • @PeteFredrickson
Very interesting myth busting here, both with regards to the idea that the ovaries are attached to the fallopian tubes and that girls are born with all the eggs they'll ever have (both things I was mistakenly taught in sex ed). Also, I think that fertility monitor could be really helpful for people with irregular cycles who want to become pregnant.

“People with PCOS or thyroid problems”… me who was diagnosed with both this year feeling like my conditions are common 🥺❤️ would love a video on PCOS and fertility options, it’s become a new fear of mine
  • @scampbaltofan1
I'd love a video on the cervical mucus. No matter how much I read up on it, I still find identifying each one really difficult
  • @123BizzyLizzy123
I've always been curious about how ovulation works, exactly, so thanks for this! We never got taught this in school.
  • @smudgerat9624
I actually watched your sponsor bit because it was informative and fit into the video. I usually skip paid promotion and there’s no way I’ll ever be trying to get pregnant but that is very neat that such a thing exists!
  • Where are all the others that struggle with PCOS/endometriosis?💜💜💜❤ you're not alone!
