  • Psychologist: How would you define your sentimental situation? Me: Drums, please, Fab...

"drums please, fab?" color has been activated

i cannot describe the feeling this song gives me. Julian seems to painfully feel every word until he reaches the emotional climax on the last verse, and then the song ends with a vague sense of hope. this man is truly a living legend, an icon of our times.

    Julian: "Drums please, fab" 2020 : 📈

When this album released, I legitimately thought it was the end for me. I had genuinely thought I wasn’t gonna live to 21. I wanted this to be my last song. Then my mom got back into the Strokes, and that’s when I started the association that this song wasn’t my end, but a beginning. It’s still a struggle but I’m getting better. Stay safe out there.

My best friend died in a tragic motorcycle accident three days ago and this was the last song he asked me to listen to. Now I'm here drowning in tears in every line and thinking that maybe it was his way of saying goodbye, repeating a thousand times, I needed you there, I needed you there but I didn't know, I didn't know😢
  • I feel like Julian really put his heart out in this album. The whole band did. The ending of this song is so beautiful, he sings it with some sort of a heartbroken, but hopeful feeling.

I remembering 19yrs old when I first discovered The Strokes...now I'm almost 41 and it doesn't seem possible

Lyrics: Up on his horse, up on his horse Not gonna wake up here anymore Listen one time, it's not the truth It's just a story, I tell to you Easy to say, easy to do But it's not easy, well, maybe for you Hope that you find it, hope that it's good Hope that you read it, think that you should Cuts you some slack as he sits back Sizes you up, plans his attack Ah-da-da Drums please, Fab And I got it all, I got it all Waiting for me down on the street But now you gotta do somethin' special for me I'm gonna say what's on my mind Then I'll walk out, then I'll feel fine Yeah, I'm under his thumb, I'm on his back I will not show my teeth too quick I needed you there, I needed you there But I didn't know, I didn't know Go alone I'll go alone We'll go alone I'll go alone Back from his trip, he's at the door When he gets back, he's on the phone Innocent eye, innocent heart No, it's not wrong, but it's not right Innocent time out on his own Not got gonna do that, I'm out of control I was just bored playin' the guitar Learned all your tricks, wasn't too hard It's the last one now, I can promise you that I'm gonna find out the truth when I get back Gone now are the old times Forgotten, time to hold on the railing The Rubik's cube isn't solving for us Old friends, long forgotten The old ways at the bottom Of the ocean now has swallowed The only thing that's left Is us, so pardon the silence That you're hearing is turning Into a deafening, painful, shameful roar

I think it’s fair enough to say that this is the best song from this band and probably one of the best rock songs of the last decade.
  • @CookieDeSatan
And, on the seventh day, God said : "drums, please, Fab".
  • I can’t believe 20 years later The Strokes are putting out this kind of quality. The album is amazing and the visuals have been stunning. As a lifelong fan it’s like a dream come true.
  • @julia-il4yg
why is this one of the best songs I’ve heard and I just found it a few days ago 😭 where has this been all my life
  • @Bubdiddly
this is, in my opinion, one of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. To think they wrote it some 10 or 15 years after their "heyday" and then proceeded to win awards for the album. It is just incredibly beautiful and creative and altogether moving.
