dolphins

On April 6-7, 2013 my son and I visited SeaWorld in Orlando with his Cub Scout pack for a sleep over. We decided to visit the dolphin underwater observation area and saw the end of the trainers' enrichment session with the dolphins. The trainers suggested that we might want to show the dolphins any interesting objects that we had, but NOT to tap on the glass because that was stressful for the dolphins. I found a balloon in my camera bag and blew it up. I wanted to know if I held the balloon against the glass and rubbed it to make it squeak, if the dolphins might find it interesting. Almost immediately, the dolphins came from all around the tank to see what this new thing was. To our delight, my son and I were treated to a nearly half hour private play date with the dolphins. It was an amazing experience. We later learned that balloons are not allowed in the park, so we will never be able to do this again, but I will never forget the fun we had. As far as we can tell, the dolphins felt the same way. This video was compiled from video shot by both me and my son. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.
