Fun Fact: they never needed supreme court permission to "allow" them to enforce laws that have been on the books for decades. This will change nothing.

All for this! Absolute nuisance, as well as a safety & health hazard to the general (law abiding) public, to allow these people to camp out on city sidewalks, in public parks, in front of businesses, etc. And arguing they should be allowed to break the law, "if their survival depends on it", is like arguing robbers & murderers should be allowed to continue with their criminal activities, if they feel such activities are "necessary to their survival". Breaking the law is not the right way to solve problems, period. Nor should it be "allowed" under ANY circumstances! Bending the law to accomodate these kind of activities, simply enables more of the same. If it's no longer legal or easy to do these things, they will seek other options. As they say - Where there's a will, there's a way! And if police & court systems get involved with them, this will ultimately be better for them, than just allowing it to continue. But this isnt just about THEM, it's also about what's best for the general public. Laws exist to protect the public, & the public needs & deserves to be protected from the hazards of allowing such activities, period. The only reason most want to remain in such circumstances, (even refusing help when it's offered), is so they can continue engaging in illegal & self destructive habits. Intervention, (whether voluntary or involuntary), is what most of them need. If they refuse help especially - no excuse for it! So we need to formally engage with them, via police intervention, find out the root cause of their homelessness, & address that immediately, rather than acting like it's "ok" to leave them on the streets. Whether the intervention needed is social services, rehab, jail, or mental health services. Or yes, in some cases, just moving them along, so they understand this behavior isnt ok, & THEY need to rethink how to address their own problems. Maybe they simply need to check themselves in somewhere for help, or seek out a friend's couch, or help from family etc, or maybe just sober up & get a job. It's not always up to US to solve their problems. I also dont think its entirely up to the public to provide shelter to EVERY homeless person, because many are in those circumstances, as a result of poor choices, not because other options dont exist. So the CAUSE of their circumstances needs to be first considered - and if it's a choice to engage in substance abuse & other illegal activities, or some form of mental/emotional dysfunction - there are appropriate institutions in place to deal with all that. Publicly provided shelter may not be the best approach, in all cases. If chronic behavioral issues are the root cause of the homelessness, it's not likely to do much good, anyway.
  • Good because needles and homeless. I find it a pleasure to go to grants pass and shop and not be bothered by homeless for money. They can get a job. But Lot don't want to work. So force them out of town.
