  • I live 10 miles away ,it’s the only place I have fish and chips ,both in restaurant and take away ,you missed out on the Gerkins and Pickle onions ,the beauty of the restaurant is that you are not rushed out of your chair,
  • I'm a vegetarian of 38 years so I don't know why I like these shows but I am addicted. Keep it up mate. 🙏👍

daily delivery from Billingsgate Fish Market. They open at 5pm and close when they run out of fish. As you can imagine t try here always a queue to get served. The prices obviously differ. Large or small portions, Skate is expensive by chippy standards. But a large Cod or Haddock and chips comes in at around £8, Huss comes in at around £6.50. On a Friday ? You can have free curry sauce or mushy peas thrown in.
The guy in charge of frying makes his batter the day before and is about 70+ years old. He is really old school and loves his job.
What more could you want ?

Looks like I have a 4 hour return journey ahead of me just to try this monster of a fish. The fish I buy from the local chippy is more like the size of a sardine in comparison.
  • When you say fresh tartare sauce, unless it says homemade tartare sauce, the sauce they give you in a ramekin is out of a jar, exactly the same stuff as in the sachets
  • Another fantastic video - thank you so much for this! thoroughly enjoyed your review as always.

I noticed right away it was a fish knife. A bit of a rarity these days. EvenTom Kerridge at Harrods at £37 for fish and chips doesn't give you that.
  • Does anyone else just like fish, chips, mushy peas, salt & vinegar and none of the other sauces etc or am I the only one?
  • @wylancslass
CORRRR .. that looks amazing! I'll have to try it sometime! I'm actually thinking of taking my Dad who had a stroke a couple of years ago. Mainly wheelchair bound now. Looks like they have reasonable disabled access and a good car park! Thanks for the video! Love how you added the curry sauce to the butty! That's something I would do haha! Now I am salivating!

Back in the day we used to go to Murgatroyds as a treat and then take our food to watch the airplanes land and take off at the little car park at the end of Leeds/Bradford airport runway. Great times! great chip butty they do also

Hi from super warm Los Angeles 🙋‍♀️
Now THAT, was a plate worth the money! Gorgeous! It was especially nice to see proper chips instead of fries!

In New Zealand back in the 60s on Fridays for 1 Schilling or 10 cents you could get 2 fish a scoop of chips + scraps (the batter that came of the fish) the fish & chip shops in those days, that's all they sold and u helped your self to the vinegar. 😀😀😀😀
  • Personally i dont think you can beat Mother Hubbards, I know its a chain. The large fish & chips costs £11.95 and the smaller Traditional costs £9.95
Even though the curry sauce, mushy peas were extra. i think it was good value, the big fish&chips was more than enough for me, in fact i´ll probably share them with my wife next time i go!! The fish is die for, and the chips are pretty good to!
Having said all that, as i live abroad, its unlikely i´ll ever get to visit that place in your video.
Great video anyway, keep up the good work!!
  • @barryh.4220
Blimey, i was only gonna have a tin of soup for dinner, but i got so hungry watching that i had to dart straight to the chippy!
  • @larhumba4233
😮😂The only thing missing was oval shaped plates to accommodate the fish so it wasn't hanging over the edges! 3 slices of bread too and 2 or 3 cups of tea. Really that was 2 meals in one. Order it and go halves with a mate. 😋
  • @laptopsid
We love it at murgatroyds, their fish and chips are to die for.👍👍
  • @neave789
can't beat chips with lashings of salt and vinegar then dipped in curry sauce heaven on a plate and that make of tar tar sauce is spot on they make some excellent sauces
  • @liminal1321
I live 1000's of miles away😂 and went to Murgatroyds and DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! 😋🥰 Yummmm, had fish, chios and my favorite mushy peas!

I had this from here last week for the 1st time ever and I can confirm it’s definitely the biggest fish I’ve ever had . Was very nice but enormous
