Johnston Research And Performance (JRP) has hooked me up with the new Sprint Booster v.3 to test. I was skeptical at first, but I discovered that I really like it. The super fast throttle response is very welcome in a drive-by-wire car. Downshifts are where it will make the most difference for me on the track. I also test the valet mode and pedal lock mode.

You can get one at sprintboosterusa.com

To clarify, this device amplifies the signal of the throttle pedal, allowing you to get to full throttle quicker.

  • The security of the "lock pedal" mode alone is worth the cost of this item! Thank you, very informative review!

i just roll my eyes when people say "just push the pedal harder". Dont you idiots understand that your throttle is NOT MECHANICAL in a DBW system!. You could push that thing through the floor and it wont make any difference. That philosophy is like saying that if you want a bold letter when typing, just hit the key harder.

@ 4:09 i was intrigued, @ 4:30 you piqued my interest, i was sold @ 4:36. All it took was 27 seconds and now I'm screaming "TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!!!!"
  • I had a sprint booster on my 2008 Mercedes C300. These cars are notorious for lag in the gas pedal. Sprint Booster worked GREAT!!! Well worth every penny!!!!! It is a must have if u have a car that has lag like mine did. A MUST HAVE!!!!!!!

I do not have a E46, but was looking to do this in my '17 Tacoma to make it more responsive and so far you have had the best video explanation on how it works with a good demo. Thanks.
  • @robby_4877
Thanks for making a proper review on this. Good to finally see if it's worth the money. Great video as always.
  • @jshim100
Best explanation on pedal map tuning. Very helpful, and think I will try one as well.
  • 6:58 Its because the Sprint booster increase an electrical charge that the car computer gas pedal let's out at the moment you step on the gas. It's allowing the car to reach full throttle sooner rather than the lag you would normally get
  • Best review that I’ve seen. Opening up the TB faster makes sense. First person to explain it that way helps.
  • @rmr3dbaron
I love sprint boosters. I would put it in any sports car i drive. Definitely a good buy. Great response!
  • @-TheOracle-
Thank you so much for testing this in the snow. Loved it!

First mod I did after going from an E36 M3 to an '06 330i = Drastic improvement! Made the intake feel cable operated - like my ol' e36. 👍
  • @Ryan16328
So glad Thomas kept with his channel and look at him now!
  • @LeShiznit
Thanks for the upload! Was super skeptical before but now all I want to do is buy one and see how much of a difference it makes :-) /Cheers from an equally icy Sweden

It works great on my Colorado but read the directions! It says do not change modes while using the accelerator pedal. This is the way drive by wire cars should come from the factory.
  • @Keirnoth
I'm a guy who drives a pedestrian 2004 Toyota Camry and I was wondering why the acceleration response on it was so sluggish. I used to drive a '92 Lexus LS400 and even that felt more responsive than my Camry. Been searching around for this and it seems like the Sprint Booster is the closest thing to having the throttle response I had on my '92 Lexus. I know your audience are mostly enthusiasts but I can see this being useful purely from an econobox utilitarian car sorta point of view too.
  • @tonytube27
Just got mine yesterday and am going to hook it up in my Dinan tuned X3 today and I feel a whole lot more confident in my purchase now! Lol. I can’t wait to drive! Thanks!
  • I have one of these on my 2005 E46 M3 since 2008. I think it's a version one. If I engage sport mode on top of the Sprint Booster, it makes car a monster. The throttle response is ridiculously fast. It's overpriced. It should cost $150 not $300. But none the less, I'm very glad that I bought one. I love mine.

GREAT REVIEW VIDEO!!! As another e46 enthusiast, you made me feel like I was there with you. I'm sold and really want the product but I'd rather spend on the essential needs. Thoroughly enjoyed this video and your channel has grown so much!! Keep up the good work man!
