GDC is very much a conference about the general workings of game development, whether it be management, processes, development from a code or audio standpoint etc. It's not really designed for consumers, although you can absolutely put a consumer lens on the conference. It really gets into the nitty gritty of some technical implementation of things developers would like to share, and helps grow the industry in a positive direction. Although I haven't personally gone (I would like to in future), there are plenty of GDC conferences online that you can get a good taster of what it's like, I personally quite liked the one on how Mick Gordon developed his sound for Doom 2016. There are a couple of other ones that were intriguing surrounding the development of visual programming for AI entities used in The Division. It's definitely a fascinating conference and might open up some new perspectives on development and actually producing a game/product that we end up consuming. Hope you enjoy it mate, looking forward to seeing some content from it! :)

Hey, I’m a conference associate (a volunteer worker) for GDC. I’d love to help however I can tomorrow or anytime this week. Knowing your content, there is a Treyarch Zombies talk Monday at 3:50pm in Room 2002 in West Hall (just make sure you have the right pass to get through). Monday and Tuesday is mostly limited to just session talks. The more interesting part you may like is the Expo Floor which opens up Wed-Fri in the massive basement. This may feel more like E3, but not sure since I’ve never been to E3. The Expo Floor has tons of booths and ways to connect. I personally treat it like a giant job fair. But there’s also plenty of little indie demos and various things for anything/anyone. I will say this probably won’t feel like an E3 alternative unfortunately. The main idea of the conference is networking, build connections, and share ideas among fellow developers. I think PAX might be a little better as an E3 alternative, but not completely sure about that either. Anyways, reach out if you’d like me to clarify more, have questions, or need any help this week. It’s my job to help you attendees have the best GDC 🙂

I’ve been to several GDCs. Not going this year, but I love attending the AI talks. It’s more of a “looking back” conference rather than a “looking forward” conference. So I’m not sure how much it will replace E3, but it’s always interesting and informative. Sad I will miss your first time!
  • Play Elden Ring my dude, i really would love to watch you go through it before the dlc comes out
  • @IceGrenade
I was there last year, won't be going this year but have fun! There is SO much cool stuff there, am sure you will just stumble across it. Enjoy it man

Wassup milo, yes yes god yes. I absolutely love it when you do videos like this. Very good time indeed :)
  • Milo is a secret weapon. Someone should hire him to consult and then create a real COD zombies game for the fans.
  • Tbh I don’t think anything could ever fill the hole that E3 left 😪 I hope you have fun at GDC still and these vlog style videos are always my favorite bc of how causal and chill they are.
  • @tuerry
do you have any thoughts on deviation games dissolving? as for GDC, you could show off anything cool you see in the exhibit showroom area
  • Milo - dunno if they’ll be in attendance but the people at Ghost Ship Games would be fun to speak with - especially their philosophy about player engagement and community building. ROCK AND STONE. Edit: From a hardcore development side, Ghost Ship used a fairly elegant and well-implemented procedural generation in Deep Rock Galactic.

Good video, keep it up, i know cod zombies is where you started but i wouldn't mind seeing you expand
  • @neal520
I really think Elden Ring would be worth your time I imagine theres plenty of no nonesense guides opportunity
  • @iceg6149
I’m going to my first GDC tomorrow. Hopefully I meet Milo 🤞
  • @ewanhouston3262
From what I know of GDC events, it’s more like the process of making the game rather than the result of their work. But they will probs still have play tests n shtuff.
  • @RuinedEcho
Praying that COD Gulf War revives classic zombies🙏🙏🙏 (it has the Raygun)

If anybody from the studio Tripwire, is there. Go and chat with them. They make Killing Floor. Its not as lore heavy as zombies. But its an EXCELLENT multiplayer L4D/ cod zombies type co-op experience.
