So let me get this straight... Your daughter goes "missing" in the middle of the afternoon in "only two minutes of not being supervised" but you let your OTHER three children then go roam around on the property for three hours looking for their sister where there are bears and other wildlife which the MOTHER is afraid of? Then you state to the media that you "both knew it was an abduction immediately." But you still let your three other children go out on said property where there could have been this said abductor waiting to grab them also potentially? I'm just checking to make sure I have this straight. Good Grief.
  • @pt2913
The abduction theory holds no weight with me. They have around 10 dogs who, according to neighbours, are always barking when visitors approach the house. I cannot believe an abductor could get in to the house without the dogs going crazy.

What's even more strange is that the moms sister went missing 12 years ago. She's never been found either.

Growing up in rural Tennessee myself, you know not to walk of into the woods alone like that. Especially without shoes. There's black widows, copperhead snakes, ticks, the list goes on. You grow up knowing that and chances are, at 5, you're afraid of them
  • Dr Grande missed a very important point in Don’s history, he SA’d his step sister when she was 5 until 12 when Don went to prison at age 17. Immediately upon his return from prison, he went to the step sisters room to abuse her. There is extensive SA history on the mother’s side as well. Summer didn’t stand a chance in this environment.

Too many children have suffered this way. What’s disturbing is that she is all alone in the truth of what’s happened. Thank you for bringing it to light so I can pray for this sweet girl, Dr. G. 💔
  • The one thing that caught my attention with this case is that Summer's aunt Rose Marie Bly vanished in 2009 in WI. I'm not sure if that was connection was made when this video was made. It definitely seems odd to have 2 members in a family just vanish into thin air, years a part.
  • There definitely needs to be a part 2 to this. I think Summer drowned while the mom was getting wasted with the fifteen year old and they panicked and covered it up.
  • I was a court reporter for 30 years in L.A. and SLO, and I could hug you for that comment about the police spending less time on social media and worrying about their image and more time actually investigating real evidence. 🤨🙄

My grandparents live out there and I’ll just say this: that’s rough country. The people are very hardened and close knit. Lots of drugs. LOTS of drugs. Lots of child abuse. Family secrets. Lots of people “stuck” there with very few options in life. The landscape itself is hot, thick, steep, and full of snakes, bears and coyotes. I can’t imagine a scenario in which she is still alive out there 2 months on. :(
  • Thank you Dr. Todd Grande. Very well said. Don said he knew for a fact she was abducted. The only way he could know for a fact is if he knows who took her. Years ago when Dons oldest son was young, he tried to sell him for drugs. That was with his first wife!
  • @jp_2448
You missed one theory: Her parents sold her for drug money. I think that's what happened considering it wouldn't be Don's first time trying to sell one of his kids for drug money in addition to Don saying so himself that he thought she was taken by traffickers.
  • I feel so terrible for this sweet little baby. Her brothers as well. Theres so much craziness going on with this case. Thank you so much for covering it. 💜🌵🌲🌿🌵

As someone who grew up in the south, you do not have to be particularly sophisticated to keep family secrets.

I was raised in rural Tennessee. I'm not going to say kids never get lost in the woods, I'm sure its happened, but most have a deserved, healthy fear of the woods. The rest have been raised trekking the hills and hollers, and know not to go far without necessities and know how to get home. Don and Candus said themselves, people dumped poor dogs off all the time. Which sadly, happens too often in rural areas. These dogs barked when anyone came in the yard. Unless someone very familiar to the dogs was slinking around in the woods, waiting for the right moment to take her, the whole neighborhood would have known a stranger was there. I don't know if the parents were part of it or not, but I believe thats exactly what happened. Someone very close to the family took her. Someone who knew those hills.

Dr. Grande - I'd love to know your thoughts on this being the second disappearance in one family. Summer's Aunt, Rose Marie Bly, Candus's sister, disappeared in 2009 and was never heard from again.
  • @Llamatown
Dear Dr. Grande, - “a person could be hooked up to a refrigerator or a sewing machine and get the same result” - thank you, again, will be laughing the rest of the night every time that comes to mind.
  • @laur131306
There's so much dysfunction and sadness in this horrible situation. What pains me the most is how scared and alone little Summer must have been and felt. She's just a baby😔 Another great one, Dr. G!💙
  • @ketipap686
Dr Grande, I'm wondering if you'd consider an update on this case. There's been so much out since and I don't know if you have followed the case but I'd love a new video on it, including the theory she may have been sold.
  • I’ve been following this case. Your analysis is spot on, clear, intriguing and your 4 probabilities in order of your opinion is excellent. I would agree with you! I believe the parents and grandmother know what happened. The boys don’t, but can give answers to whether Summer came home after swimming. Don and Candus had time to coach them before they were removed from the home. Thank you for weighing in on this.
