I love that the 'don't' side isn't a ridiculous exaggeration like we usually see in similar video's, where the creators make the 'don't' side just look absolutely hideous on purpose. Whilst in this video both sides look realistic and good, even though the 'do' side looks more flattering. This truly helped to see the realistic difference between both sides!

As a professional makeup artist, I don’t really get impressed by other makeup artists doing everyday makeup. But your techniques and the way you teach is on point! Your voice is also very soothing! 😊

I'm 37 years old, when I was in my 20s I would wear makeup so confidently and feel good about myself. Now that I'm in my late 30s I feel like a full face of makeup makes me look older, it's definitely my fault for not trying new techniques with my makeup. Thank you for these tips! I'm definitely trying the contour and blush hacks. I hope you make a video about eyes next.
  • Used a brush to apply my foundation for the first time. Game changer! You just taught this 71 yr old a new trick. Thank you oh so very much! 💖

I love that the “don’t“ side looks great and the “do” side looks even better. You emphasised how the techniques result in different appearances but do not mean being bad.

OMG Nikki, Your tips for the Most Flattering placement of Blush was a Game changer for my 56 year old Face❤
  • Nikki, would you do a video on makeup minimalism? I’m 28, I love my looks and I don’t wear makeup; sometimes I feel like I’d like to get into it but the sheer amount of brushes and tools feels overwhelming, especially to clean (and the thought of a dirty brush or sponge makes me recoil!). For those of us who are newbies and interested in dabbling in makeup, would you do a video on the absolute minimum bare essentials to start off with? And include a version of it for those of us who don’t want to wear foundation? I know that’s a lot 🙈

We NEED an updated brow routine! They look perfect. You teach me SO much. You can really notice the difference between sides, even on camera. You are so talented!

I love that you just cut right to the chase, no nonsense...no lengthy “subscribe and click the bell guilt”....or listening to horrendous elevator music with your graphic that was modeled after something my little cousin created on his keyboard in his closet, or some laborious intro about why you made this video and why we are obviously and clearly here! LOL Simplicity and education! Salute!❤ you instantaneously made a subscriber out of me!❤
  • I love how she explains the mistakes and gives freedom at the same time. Thank you so much!

Im 67 —old AF in the beauty world. And I am so happy that you validated the way I have always applied blush! Lol. I do agree with you on the -foundation-with-the-fingers approach. Its somewhat cringey because of the wasted product on the hands. What I do is wake up earlier so that my makeup application for the day is a relaxing routine that coincides with my morning coffee. I blend in with a brush or other tool such as a blender. Inasmuch as setting powder, the only place I apply is under my eyes so my mascara doesn’t smear. I apply super lightly with a fan brush. So happy I found you! I just subscribed!❤

Thank you Nikki for this how to video. At 65 and new to the NEW way of doing makeup, especially for a mature face, this made so much sense! I moving directly to Part #2. I wish I had found you 8 months ago when I started my mature UPDATED look.

Aloha from Honolulu, Nikki! I'm new to your channel and discovered you on a recent Risa Does Makeup video mention. I am 70 years old, love to look and feel my best, and would love see a video on how to make one look younger through the application of makeup, and of course more videos like this is so very helpful as well! You are such a good trainer on makeup application and product information, and I thank you so very much, Nikki!
  • Bless you! I am in menopause at 46 due to total hysterectomy and let me tell you. It wrecked me! I need all the help I can get.
  • What a difference you can see in your cheekbones in the application of the contour and blush based on changing the placement. In college, instead of going out some nights, I’d sit with my Kevin Aucoin, “Making Faces” book and do my make up. The man was brilliant and pure magic when it came to make up and watching your videos takes me back to that. Thank you!!!!
  • Nikki, I def commented this in another video but - You are the best teacher! Even though there are countless of videos from makeup artists telling you the do’s and dont’s using the same examples you’ve shown, you explain the why’s and why not’s in a way that makes so much sense and in greater detail! Thankful for you!! 💕
  • Nikki, I have been doing my makeup like this now since I saw your last video on it... I have been getting so many compliments on how I look, not bad when I turn 52 this year! Thank you 😊 💓
  • Thank you so much Nikki! I'm 50 and have never really been shown the proper way to wear makeup. Basically I've been winging it since I was a teen. I never really cared for myself in makeup but wore it none the less for work. No that I'm retired, I hardly ever wear it. But when I do, I hated ow it looked on me, especially now that I have more wrinkles and dry skin. Everything in your video that was the incorrect way of doing things is exactly what I've been doing! Your tips are so wonderful, I'm actually looking forward to trying them!! I want to thank you so much for you for sharing your knowledge and expertise with those of us on youtube. I love your videos!!!
  • @debzfeath6007
That all made perfect sense to me after struggling for so long .... I feel I'm now at 57 finally getting a handle on how to apply make-up correctly ... Thanx to you Nikki you're a genius ...
  • I agree, your voice is so soothing and easy to listen to. You also explain everything to a point where everyone will understand. Understanding it yourself is one thing. Making it simple enough for laypeople to understand and be able to mimic is a true skill!
