After a long time in Singapore, I am hearing a speech that made a lot of sense. Thank you, PM Wong.

This why I love my country even more. This is also why I love my PM even more today. ❤️

Very Inspiring speech. We should work together to unleash the creativity of each individual Singaporean. With intelligence and compassion, we will never miss success in our journey of making our lives meaningful and fruitful. God blesses Singapore.

This is so gd. It's a spore where everyone including the homeless, garbage collector etc are appreciated cos the focus has switched from human doing to human being 😊

PM Wong, thank you for reaching out to all Singaporeans. I have a few words, I am 71 years of age and after retirement, I realize people in our age group spend quite a bit of time at the doctors for various ailments. I am not an exception and i want to say that i’ve been pleasantly surprised at the subsidies i’ve been given after each polyclinic visit, and for that, sir, i want to thank you. Also, I am grateful that we have clean drinking water, ample food supplies, that i feel safe in our tiny country and a whole bunch of other things that we all take for granted all the time. It must be a humongous task to run a country the way PAP did and continues to do so, so thank you to your predecessors and to you and your colleagues.

Papa Lawrence, thank you. We are with you.
  • Maybe one day the best artists, the best authors, the best musicians, the best technologists will come from this land because they were given the right encouragement.

I like how he observes the society, what they are talking about and then makes a suggestion to improve everyone's mindset. Down to the earth. Keep it up Mr Wong.

Thank you PM Wong for reminding us the there are many versions of success! Consumerism/materialism is not confined to Asian cultures, it is highly prevalent in the West. Success is about purpose, finding your call, and making a difference.

Really appreciate PM Wong taking the lead to call out to every Singaporean to broaden our definition of success and to emphasize the message that every Singaporean counts in continuing to move Singapore ahead.

Motherhood statements are pleasing to the ears. Can there be respect if work cannot pay for the high cost of living? The G cannot on the one hand ask us to broaden the definition of success but on the other hand allocate resources purely using economic principles.

Thank you PM Lawrence Wong for heartfelt message and redefining Sg dream

Reprogramming the ethos of a society is not a trivial matter. Materialism is deeply engrained in the asian culture, not just in Singapore. To remove the materialistic drive overnight without appropriate motivating factors is not realistic. Without concurrent development of wisdom and the human spirit, there will be a void that is created. Meaningful change cannot happen through words alone. There needs to be concrete action that has real impact on both the individual and community at-large.

PM Wong, I'm so touched by your speech. How right you are that success should not be defined by narrow definitions. I'm very sure that SG will be in good hands under your care! ❤❤❤
  • Start off by truly understanding how we can better our education system, one which is not using the financial instruments as a measure of success in life.
