UPDATE FROM MICHELLE FISHER 8/2015:
I just wanted to post a quick update. Jax is doing really well. Him and our son have quite the bond which makes me so happy. He has lost all his puppy fur so he looks completely different. He's a very happy and energetic dog and we couldn't be happier that he's here with us.

ORIGINAL STORY:
PAWsitive Channel and the SPCA International’s program Operation Baghdad Pups:Worldwide (OBP) team up to film the reunion of Sgt. Jacob Fisher and his dog. Fisher had recently arrived home from his seven-month deployment from Afghanistan, his 3rd tour to the Middle East. Sgt. Jacob waited nearly three months for the moment he would see Jax again. This reunion took place on April 24, 2015.

Sgt. Jacob is on active-duty, a hero who continues to protect our freedoms and our lives. When he found Jax, only a puppy at the time, he knew he couldn’t leave him to fend for himself in the harsh and potentially dangerous streets of Bagram, Afghanistan. He had to save one more life before going home – and he did.

There's a powerful medicine for soldiers coming home bearing the scars of war. That medicine has a loving heart, four paws and a wet nose.

Im starting to think that the dog as a species should be formally recognised for its service to humanity. It really is a special relationship we share.

my dad went to Afghanistan in 2012. When he came home my 11 year old dog ( who was nine then) jumped onto his lap and licked him so much that my dad felt like he was having a shower. BTW we rescued him after been abused

This made me cry tears of happiness! So glad Jax is finally home with his family. Our military give so much to defend and protect this great nation. Uniting a pup with a fellow Marine is a great honor. Donna Stubblefield U.S. Army Veteran Sergeant (1977-1994)
