Awkward telemarketer Martha Plant lives a lonely existence burying treasure and eating split pea soup. When she takes in a vagrant with multiple personalities, she discovers having three friends in one may be more than she can handle.

Long Description: In the wake of her parents death, awkward telemarketer Martha Plant lives a lonely existence sucking at selling air conditioners, burying stolen treasure in the desert, and eating split pea soup. When she fortuitously collides into Sadie Mayflower, a bubbly vagrant with an orange suitcase and penchant for chit chat, Martha takes her in and offers her a position as her treasure-burying assistant. When Martha learns her job is on the line, Sadie earns her spot on the couch by teaching Martha how to interact with her customers. But Martha quickly discovers her people-savvy friend has multiple personalities, some nicer than others. As Martha navigates having three friends in one, she uses some of her new skills to strike up a companionship with an air-conditioning client, Richard Cox. Meanwhile, Sadie begins seeing biblical visions and seeks spiritual consultation from an elderly church caretaker named Jesús. When someone starts stealing Martha’s treasure, this motley crew of desert loners unite in unusual ways to find the culprit.

    I truly can't remember enjoying a movie more than The Planters! Martha was such a delightfully weird mix of darkness and light. Like a sweet Wednesday Addams. All the characters were interesting in their quirky, unique ways, especially Sadie, who had more to give than most! I do love Indie movies, but this one went above and beyond. Fearless in its originality, patiently developing the wonderfully bizarre but lovely characters, all with their surprisingly impactful stories. It was a very nice little scenic ride through places that would seem so ordinary without your unforgettable characters. I loved Martha's growth opportunity, and how she chose to rise up and meet her obligations. The whole experience was a really refreshing change from Hollywicked programming agendas. Thank you for sharing this one! The insomniac in me would love to see more!

    A fantastic comedy, I laughed all the way though it. Wonderfully original story, great acting, fun animation, cool music and the direction pulled the whole thing together. Thank You so much for making it. I won't think of Planters the same way ever again.

    Beautiful and I laughed out loud a few times! Claymation was amazing, a lot of work to get all those details and facial expressions, wow! Acting, sets, symmetry in the framing, GREAT stuff!!

    Neat clay animation. The Bible stories were fun. Nice mix of rational and irrational (heavy on the latter). Loved the stepped up A/C sales pitches--they were believable, even! A shame that the credits were speeded up, though. I slowed them down, but still didn't see anything about the claymations--which were in starring roles in the final Last Supper.
