"the arbiters couldn't do anything about it because there is no rule about how colorful your socks can be" this was the best april fools joke I've heard this year, A+
  • @Kwaj
Dang it, Agad, you got me! I really wanted to believe Alireza was walking around in Gucci socks out of spite. 😆
  • @zagollshenaj363
I literally followed the live coverage and all the drama, but still got tricked by Antonio. I just thought "yep, I must have been distracted or something". Good job sir.
  • You got me good with that whole socks shenanigans. I was already thinking about what a great story it would be to tell my friends at the library, then you broke my chain of thoughts with that "sorry about that". Well played, sir, well played indeed.

Wtf 🧦 Only youtuber I trust blindly 🤣🤣
  • This was a great game. Abasov may finish the tournament with a pretty bad score but in hindsight if you look at all of his losses, it's not like he was getting crushed, more like an untimely mistake cost him most of the games. In this game against Hikaru he defended extremely well and I would say even outplay Hikaru before the fatal mistake. If not for that one move, everyone would be singing his praises right now. He's also found a number of "engine moves" to keep a games going, impressing the entire commentating squad. So to me it doesn't look like he's out of place at all, despite being 100+ rating points below everyone else.

In the german broadcast of the game Vincent Keymer was extremely irritated, that Hikaru didn't play g5 right away and lost his advantage. He said, that such an elite player like him should see that move directly and couldn't believe, that Hikaru overlooked that. 😅
  • @thomasSgacheru
Would not be surprised if Alireza pulled out foppishly colourful socks from his sleeves (literally and figuratively)
  • @wgolyoko
Okay, good one with the socks lol.

@20:30, if you capture white knight on f3, the white bishop hangs, but so does the dark bishop, next move for white would nh4, rook can pick up passed black pawn easily.
  • @GeraldM_inNC
The livestream regarded Abasov's rook to E2 as an outright blunder that lost him the game. As soon as White played bishop to E5 Abasov could resign. There was no recovering from this blunder no matter how well Abasov could play after it. They went so far as to say Nakamura invited Abasov to play the tempting E2, deliberately laying a trap into which Abasov fell.
