@mutt1256 Yep, that's the Atchafalaya Thruway between BR and Lafayette. If an accident occurs on that highway, it's a wrap, you'll be stuck on there a LONG time

Great video of LA swampland with one of my favorite songs!
-
Ive been through some of the longest bridges in the East Coast, That's the longest bridge I ever saw! Even The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel in Chesapeake, Virginia can't touch that! Wow!!
-
Driving through the swamp is spooky. I reside in Florida and I drove through Alligator Alley in south Florida and it was scary.
-
The first time I went across this bridge was in 1999. It was the middle of the night and it was my first trip to New Orleans, and I had no idea what to expect on the roads. So imagine my surprise when I drove across this!
-
What a bridge. <3

@aswchris -Thanks, they really are marvels, they just go on forever it seems, can't imagine what the working conditions were like building them.
-
Wow! What an engineering marvel. Really enough said.
-
Reminds me of the long bridge just outside of Baton Rouge on I-10 I think it's 22 miles long with one exit for a rest area half way through. Great video also.

Very interesting drive. I would say these freeways were engineering marvels at the time of construction, because they are elevated for dozens of miles. This is what much of the Netherlands would've looked like if we didn't drained half of the country.
-
That road is EPIC, I really liked it :D
-
@0marigolds -Thanks! The wipers were more for my side of the windshield as I was photographing while we were driving, I hate to do it but there are different rules in the swamp :)
-
@mutt1256 -Thanks and yes, it's very similar to that bridge (18 Miles long).
-
@FreewayBrent -When you consider that it merges with elevated I-10 (Next Video), add another continuous 8-9 miles of bridge to that, it's really something.
-
@ScrewdUPClickV2 Thank you!
-
Nice ride. You did a great job showing the swamp. Its either I-55 or the Causeway bridge (over lake Pontchartrain) for a not too inconvenient detour into New Orleans from Baton Rouge and points west. Ruddick, La ??? (lol)

I commuted this route from mile 23 to 0, then I-10 to 310. 35 miles of elevated road with very limited access and before Katrina, not a lot of traffic, so relatively safe. The trick to making it an interesting commute was to get a fast, comfortable motorcycle and make the scenery go by like it does in the video. Note the cop on the shoulder just past one of the few curves in the road.

@Billio0986 Thanks, yes I have driven that part of I-65 twice.
-
@wceagle4life -This was my first time too, it was better than I expected compared to the lower level I-10 bridges.

Great video. I have traveled on this stretch countless times from many a trip to New Orleans. I love the view of Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas over the Pass Manchac viaduct at 0:45. Did you get a chance to travel the Pontchartrain Causeway when you were down there?
