That is a super nice cdv700. Just bought my first one after years of thinking about it....so thanks for my new addiction to expensive scientific equipment. Going to spruce pine soon.

I was going to buy that exact ore at 00:58. Now I know who bought it out from under me.

As always, great work. I'm exited to see the video over Brazil nuts!

The Ludlum makes pretty music! Sounds a bit like the Mazur PRM series.

You should get an alpha particle scintillation probe! Eberline makes nice ones, which should be compatible with your Ludlum!
  • Have Tom have you looked at other true gems that are radioactive? I have found a few online for sale but they are really expensive.

It appears that you modified your mod. 700 Geiger counter with aBNC connector. Would that be to have option of connecting a pancake probe ? I was thinking of buying a pancake from eBay and trying it with my mod 700. That should work I think.. Did you do that and did it work ? Thanks.

Besides the potassium salt, another good example/point to make is whenever you travel on a plane your dose goes up by at least 3x vs sea level, and no one thinks twice about it - nor do you hear of pilots or flight attendants getting radiation sickness (because it isn't enough of a dose to notice or worry about, even though they spend 6-12h/day at that dose from the altitude).

Hey, i've heard of jewlery made of thorite. u can't wear it but could you make a vid on polished thorite?
  • @brfisher1123
I think thorite is considered a radioactive gem though I'm not entirely sure if thorite is indeed actually considered a gemstone.
