Crowleys father went about talking that everything is a sin, and then died from tongue cancer. I see what you did there God
  • @peter-8483
Today he would just be your average person in Hollywood
  • @jfpk114
Ozzy Osbourne wrote a cracking song about him too. One of the greatest guitar solos is on it.

Young Crowley has unstable angina and was sickly until he had spent time away from his parents. He lived in the country, chopped wood, became physically strong before he returned to his parents. He still suffered from angina and was prescribed, as he had been before time in the country, it was called laudinum (morphine), it came in tinctures. This was the method used for pain in many, in those days. During travels later on, laudinum wasn't available, so he was prescribed Heroin. Heroin, was a brand name for processed morphine. It was created in Germany by Bayer. He built a tolerance.

Child raised by crazy parents turns out crazy in the opposite direction. Never heard that story before...
  • @Glamosapien
Cant believe he talked about musicians and didnt mention ozzy osbournes song “mr crowley”
  • @lucyalienlove
You mentioned psychedelic drugs and showed acid tabs, which didn't exist during Crowley's life. Crowley did mescaline, from cactus like San Pedro and Peyote. I think the distinction is important.
  • @Voidvampy
I kind of appreciate that wholesome twist near the end of Crowley's story. A fangirl actually took care of him and helped him get sober, and Crowley ended up being a good dad. I love that for him
  • @nickx1754
What surprises me the most is after self indulging to such extremes, he found his greatest satisfaction in family. Wow.
  • @simmthingler
I don't think he actually said LSD. 06:57 "He incorporated psychedelic drugs into his routines..." So that could be anything from peyote to the playing of a Björk album.
  • Great video,  have always known there’s more to life than meets the eye, I feel like in this life i am supposed to be doing more than i am doing for the people i love. been seeking for an eye opening enlightenment, a way to be more influential, powerful and protected~

I learned about him in 2003 from the Rob Zombie movie: House of 1000 Corpses. Towards the end of the movie, the surviving victims of the fire fly family cult were being dragged to their death to be sacrificed to Doctor Satan in a watery grave below. During the ritual, you can hear a sinister, low voice of Alistair saying "Bury me in a nameless grave", Looping on repeat.
  • @ThePSNinjas
A hardcore preacher dying of tongue cancer is the ultimate irony

Crowley's followers could not have "stared at frightening images and while taking LSD" at the abbey. The abbey was founded in 1920 and shuttered in 1923. LSD was not synthesized until 1938 and was not discovered to have effects until 1943. By this time the Abbey had been closed for 20 years. Similarly, mushrooms were not known outside circles until scientists for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals went seeking out psychedelic drugs in the 1950. It is doubtful that Crowley would have had access to this drug as it was not purified from the raw material until 1959. Mescaline was the most likely drug used, as accounts from the era describe the copious use of alcohol, morphine, cocaine, and chloroform, as well as the occasional use of peyote/mescaline.
  • Aleister Crowley was in Sicily from 1920 - 1923. LSD was „invented“ in 1943, so Crowley and bis crew did certainly not use LSD in the 1920thies. But other drugs, such as heroine.
