The Tragic Life of Kim Soo Hyun

I wouldn't call his life tragic. He has a bad father, and a struggling single mother, that's a very large club. He has made something for himself and his mother, it's not tragic but commendable.

Good for him. He has kept his humility and integrity. His dad is a deadbeat dad. You don’t abandon your own kids no matter what. There is no excuse for that. All the while still singing and working but making his own son live in hunger. He is not only an amazingly talented actor, he’s kind and handsome too. His drama It’s Okay to Not Be Okay was my all time favorite Korean drama - just masterful. I wish him and his mother all the best. I think everybody has someone in their family who has questionable integrity, morals or conduct. We have a choice to not associate ourselves with those kinds of people whether they are relatives or not.

He is now the most richest actor in Korea with net worth around 118 million dollars, well deserved and a great fabulous actor. Always supporting him

I don't know how he prepared to become an actor, but he is one of the best I have ever watched!!! I hope his mom is doing well and I hope to see him in many drama/movies!

I hope his father and sister to leave him alone and won't give him many problems..if they want success..then they should try only by themselves..He deserves all the best because he has shown to everyone that he is an amazing actor and as a personality he is so humble,kind ,polite..

His iconic og drama ‘ my love from the star’ was my 1st ever kdrama and what got me into the kdrama culture. He is one of the most in demand and wealthiest actor in SK, he deserves everything.

Kim Soo Hyun is his own Man. His mom is his rock. He made it big on his own.. I love him.. damn good actor x

What a lovely soul. His father is despicable for abandoning his own child and wife. I am so glad that he surpassed his father in success because he deserves some happiness after a hard young life. He’s a great actor. My favourite show he was in are plenty, but my first one was Moon Embracing the Sun. The children in the drama were also really good and I am so happy to see them all grown and continues to act in their own shows.

His father is a dirtbag. Period. Trying to re-write narrative, present himself as a selfless, hopeful parent. "Misunderstanding" is the oldest excuse. SH is the genuine thing beyond his many performing talents - a good man, diligent, humble, warm and honest. I wish him and his mother every happiness in this world, including his right to privacy. [It occurred to me that he may be too dignified to slap his father and sister with a gag order to prevent them from mentioning him in ANY way, but his agency doesn't. As a minimum they can claim damage of their investment's ability to work in peace and his endorsement marketability. ]

The mere fact that So Hyun is popular now than his father means that his dad is now getting what he deserves when he abandoned them. That's KARMA.

He deserves everything and his story is extremely inspiring.From struggling to even buy bread to being the richest and one of the most demanded actors in South Korea,he has truly come a long way! Rooting for him to be even more successful in the years yet to come ❤

I have always respected him as an artist, and I have heard he is a wonderful person, knowing what he has been thru I have even more respect for him.

A amazing actor who has over come life’s hurdles with humility,honor, and success. The fact that he allowed nothing deter him from his goal of success and is able to maintain his humbleness and his humanity is awe inspiring. Too often actors become egotistical and arrogant. Through the years I watched him become a phenomenal actor. Thank you for maintaining in light of the hardships you’ve encountered!!! I know his Mum is so very proud of him. His father can't call himself Kim Soo Hyun's father because he was in no way a father figure to Soo Hyun in any part of his life. It's just sickening that he would use his own son (only biologically, not in the father figure sense *I'm only emphasizing my point*) for publicity. To say that he hopes his song inspires parents around the world is beyond me. You can't call yourself a parent if you were never around for your child and you didn't try to do anything for them. You can't call yourself a parent, when through divorce (co-parenting), you didn't make the time to help his mom raise him, you flat out abandoned him and his mother. In no way, shape or form can he call himself a parent or father figure to Kim Soo Hyun. He's too pure to endure all this. Nice people really are taken advantage of and that's a sad fact. I rest my case.

I became a fan of him since Dream High and gosh he still my fave actor untill now, his hard work paid off.

I’m here reading comment just because I just watched “ queen of tears”. Poor guy! His calm personality shows through his acting. Very calm and charismatic man❤.

This just shows his growth and progression as a wonderful human being. He didn't let the negativity about his past affect him and decided to do something great with it. This is truly commendable and I am proud to be a fan of him and I hope people can learn from this.
