Probably the greatest drummer ever, his timing and control are absolutely atomic clock precision. Buddy Rich was no slouch either . . . .

Can we also talk about the absolute masterful puppetry on display here? Puppeteering Animal to match the actual drumming is insane.

Ronnie Verrell was the drummer behind Animal (and was one of Buddy rich's all time favourite drummers) he started with the Ted heath orchestra, and as well as the muppets (Jack parnell 's band were the studios in house band) also performed with the likes of Nat King Cole, Tom Jones and Shirley bassey) This really was two artists who respected each other demonstrating their craft.

Here you can watch the greatest drummer ever. He influenced a lot of drummers and he has an amazing ability with the instrument, it's something magical. The other guy is Buddy Rich.

Animal's facial expressions always cracked me up as a kid, & still to this day. Percussion is life!

Animals' eyes have always killed me. He's gotta be one of the most expressive of the muppets.

After this, Kermit apologized to Buddy Rich for Animal's poor sportsmanship, to which Mr. Rich answers, "I'm just glad it wasn't a piano battle. That little devil would have killed me!" XD

Moments like these - the Muppet Show rose somewhere very high! Where are programs like these nowadays?

The truly amazing thing here is that Jim Henson and the Muppets made us believe that they were more than just puppets. You get totally sucked in to their world. The musical guests and the songs they would perform together were some of my favorite bits. This one is classic.

I was in the JSU drum Corp when Buddy Rich came to do a seminar.Buddy was real critical of our technique. We had just won first place in the South. Finally, we told Buddy that he was great at one time but now he is just another old drummer. In anger Buddy stripped off his suit and challenged us to play. 2 hours later he had played us into the Earth. We got a drum lesson for life! There are no words to describe a real legend!

I never missed a Muppet show & we had such a laugh at work on Mon talking about & mimicking them. Now 73 & that brought back memories & made me laugh so much. Great memories.
