A clinical psychologist from Imperial College describes how Magic Mushrooms (Psilocybin), when used in a therapeutic setting, have been found to be a very effective treatment for depression. In this talk she draws on her experiences as working as a therapist on the groundbreaking Psilocybin for Depression study, and introduces us to some of the patients and their stories of transformation.

Dr Rosalind Watts completed her clinical psychology training at University College London. After six years of practicing psychotherapy in the NHS, she joined a clinical trial at Imperial College, investigating psilocybin (magic mushrooms) as a treatment for depression. Her research explores patients' positive views of this intriguing therapy.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

  • I have been depressed for a long time, but after taking shrooms few months ago, l feel much happier and highly motivated and my ADHD gone , lost a ton of anxiousness and had a few epiphanies about how I should live my life. I decided to buy an ounce for backup, but haven’t yet felt the need to take any more since then.

I'm dosing .5 grams every 7 days. For the last 3 weeks. Feeling AMAZING!!!!! Depression is gone. Energy level is way up. Getting 6 to 8 hours of GREAT sleep. My OCD has calmed down. I have a " love" for everything again. Cluttered mind, is again fouced. After suffering 3 miscarriages in the last 2 years.. my mental health took a downward spiral. This is my 7th time the last 15 years that I have microdosed. I'm not longer on any meds for my PTSD, OCD & BPD.
I was both shocked & amazed to find so much new information on this subject!!! Over 35 years of dealing with my mental health issues. I swear this is the one thing that works for me!

microdosing has helped me tremendously. From being unable to leave the house and being in bed 20 hours a day, I am now doing 150% workload of courses at university getting a degree in computer science.

Ironically, mushrooms gave me the information that doing psychedelic drugs just isn't enough to change your life. It told me that hard work and effort is really the only way to get to your goals. Simple and true message. The most sobering advice was given to me by my own brain tripping on drugs. You have to admire that.

Psilocybin mushrooms have been found to have great effects and could benefit those with depression and anxiety, but there's a big risk if you eat the wrong one

Have you ever had your best friend tell you it will be ok and that voice is you?

    That is psilocybin therapy.

I can testify that mushrooms changed my life.
    Psyclosibin is life changing.
We need medical authorities to implement this ASAP. I'm sick of waiting.
  • why is this the only ted talk where I have to set my computers loudest sound and still barely hear it.

I had an 8 year period where my good days were so infrequent i could count them on one hand, and I remember every single one of them. I just didn’t feel normal. It was like I didn’t experience life the same as others. Now after taking psylocybin I feel genuinely amazing. Sometimes I’ll be doing something so small and insignificant like driving to work and I’ll feel better than I did in years by just noticing things in the landscape or in a song I like. It’s hard to explain but it’s like a film was wiped off of life.
  • @beanking2702
I wanted to die then i did shrooms and life was pretty good after that
  • @TheLocallegand
the problem is there's to much money being made in keeping people sick vs curing them. thats why things like this are illegal. thats why true knowledge about health is so supressed. we need a revolution.
