I've recently picked up the 3TB single version (LS210D) which is quite a bit slower, but is great for quick back ups of photos and the like.. And being able to back up photos etc directly from both my android phone, and the wife's iPhone is nice.

i have or had until a few weeks back a Buffalo LS dh1000, which is over 13 years old, just a single 1TB drive, now it beeps, and gets very hot, so I presume it is a electronic fault, only have 1X1Tb drive in, been ok, but it is slow, so time to update, I did think about the LS 220, but not sure, i also like the Terramaster, but the prices are higher. I have just taken my old drive Link station apart, to see if i could find out the problem,, it has a normal Toshiba drive, so not bad for 13 years. The drive still spins and i have software to get the data off, but i got everything backed up onto an external drive anyway. i will have a think about it, but prices are better now, considering my 1TB unit with a non-removable drive was nearly £300 when I got it. Good review, but i think 520 may be a bit cheap.
  • Got the naked Buffalo LS Duo back in 2014 and its only just died. 1 disk went after 5 years a Caviar but the Buffalo warned me and I pulled it out and recovered the data using UFS Explorer (USD50). I used Raid0 and desktop drives as a network repos it got only occasional work. Only one step up from a usb remote drive bay really. But for some central point for your movies / music / software on a basic lan it cant be beat for price. Would recommend just getting the bay and putting ur own disks in.

Looks like the front pops off in the amazon listing to see the drives? For the price feel the specs are a bit lacking. If it was at the sub £100 mark, perhaps.

I have an LS421DE40E with 3 TB RAID 1 & LS-WVL06B with 2 TB RAID 1 for a total of 5 TB usable. Dives have failed over the years, but with RAID 1, no problem. I buy just the diskless versions and select the drives I want when they are on sale.

Why one issue with this is that I only want one NAS array not two in one. I'd rather not put all my eggs in one basket with my backup (even if it is TWO arrays)

Hi! It’s this Nas compatible with Plex application? Thanks.
