E3 2014 - Teaser Trailer for Splatoon

This seems a lot like a game the new generation will have nostalgic feelings towards to.

Decided to come back and watch this after the third game's trailer came out today. It's so fun to see how much this franchise has grown over the years.

Im here to pay respects to the game that started it all, in a months time its server will go away forever, thanks so much for all the memories splatoon 1 ill miss you

This is where it all began.

I remember watching this back when the trailer first came out, I begged my dad to get me the game when it released and he decided to because Id been doing well in school. I remember playing for the first time, my first ever match was on camp triggerfish and I had so much fun just painting random things aimlessly. I love splatoon with all my heart

Now that Splatoon 3 is coming, this makes me even more nostalgic. We even have the Inkzooka back now! I remember the days when Miiverse was still a thing and I can even faintly remember years ago of when I was just getting into my first Splatoon match. I can't even believe that 2015 was 6 years ago.

Before February-March of 2015 I knew barely nothing about Splatoon. It is now my second most played game of Wii U with 264 hours

Y'know I wasn't feeling it back when this was first announced, but 7 years later and we're all losing our minds at the announcement of the third one. Holy Jesus, how has it been that long?

Really sweet to see the game’s old players come together one last time and, for once, massively reduce matching times. We’re all going to miss it. ❤

And now we're in Splatoon 2, with a final splatfest dawning upon us in a month. Damn I love this game.

Damn I want this game... I haven't seen a fun shooter like this since TF2. I don't know why people are complaining about Nintendo lacking fresh IP's after this showed up!

As of me writing this comment, Splatoon 1’s servers will be shutting down in just a few days. I cannot begin to describe how much this game series has impacted my life. I love this game with all my heart and it’s sad to see it go. I’ve met countless of people and made many friends throughout this series. From the moment I saw this trailer when I was 10 years old I knew it was something special. Although my time with the first game was short, it has cemented my love for the series as a whole. I got a Switch primarily for Splatoon 2. I bought Smash Ultimate just because Inkling was going to be a character. I even played the whole 12 hours of the Splatoon 3 Splatfest premiere and got Splatoon 3 the second it was released in my state. I’m trying really hard not to cry while typing this and it may be strange to some but this game is a big part of my life. Goodbye Splatoon 1, you’ll be gone but never forgotten ❤.

I might be wrong here, but I remember the best reactions for this announcement at the time being among the lines of "OK, that's interesting." A lot of people didn't think much of this, I even remember some thinking it looked like an eShop game. I got pretty excited after they showed more of it, but even then, I didn't think it would go far. It was a Wii U game with a pretty out there concept, odds were stacked against it being successful. And here we are now, it's one of Nintendo's biggest franchises. You love to see it.
