Sonic Youth has got to be one of the greatest band names ever.
-
"Can we make a music video?" "Yes, but you have to bring your little sister."
-
Kathleen Hanna with the pigtails and the Chuck T's. What an absolute goddess. Iconic.
-
It's 2024. This song will turn 30 in a couple of months. I was 30 when it came out. We're both still young. 🤘🤘
-
I love how the "riff" is just a couple of distorted noisy notes through a delay pedal. So completely separate from any pop friendly tunes but instantly recognizable to fans. Still one of my favorite songs on one of my favorite albums.
-
The 90's were like "Don't tell me how to make music"
-
This is so interesting, it sounds like a really loud song but nothing is actually loud or that distorted. It's a song that accomplishes being aggressive without having to resort to loudness and screams. A proof of concept
-
To be there in the 90s in your teens and twenties, it was life, amazing, fantastic, beautiful life!
-
For anyone confused by the "(C) 2004 Geffen Records" in the video description, this is what happens when people renew their copyrights with re-releases. This album came out in 1994.

David Bowie and Björk in the thumbnail

Using the maracas on the drums for the hook was freaking BRILLIANT 😍. The instrumentals on this song take it to another level! Loved it back in 94 and still love it to this day! ❤️
-
There is literally nothing like this song in existence. It's truly one of a kind.
-
The editor of this video should have won an MTV award. Editing shitloads of footage to fit a song's temperament as well as its rhythmic structure is always overlooked.
-
Beavis - How come she's counting? Counting sucks! Butthead - Maybe she's counting how many times she's done it. A huh huh huh. Beavis - Oh yeah, counting rules! Heh heh heh
-
Still remember when I first heard this song and how it fascinated and disturbed me at the same time. It still does and is one of my favourite songs ever.
-
It used to drive me crazy. That little drum break in the middle of this song always reminded me of another song, but I couldn’t think of which one. Finally, it hit me — Mary Mary by the Monkees.
-
drumstick in one hand, maracas in the other. Thats how you do it.
-
Never realised how Kim really looks like she could be Bowie's older sister.
-
So perfect. So 90's. Takes me right back to 94 every time.
-
i love how I left my subtitles on and it told me I was listening to "soothing rock music"
