Parry system is like Sekiro, perfect blocking. So parry what you feel comfortable and dodge what you can’t. You can parry red attacks but run away if you need to I hope this helps. Parrying can break the weapons of enemies as well

Maybe it's just me, but watching Afro discover the mechanics & gameplay in souls-like games inspires me to try push through the rage of them all

I'm so glad you picked this back up!! some tips - start using the charged R2 attacks, the booster glaive has one of the coolest movesets in the game. Also, the parry is more of a perfect block that has several benefits opposed to dodging such as 1. you don't lose health on perfect blocks 2. you can destroy enemy weapons after repeatedly doing perfect blocks (varies on enemy weapon type but you did it at 14:26) 3. repeated/consistent perfect blocks also build up stagger (indicated by white meter around enemy health bar 14:27) and landing a charged R2 attack will stagger enemy, giving you an easy fatal attack there's many more benefits to perfect blocking but you will need to invest quartz into the P-Organ in order to unlock

The parry isn’t energy dependent you can also guard which just means you aren’t doing on time but you can regain health from the guard

I'm looking forward to how much crazier this series is gonna get in the long run, Afro never disappoints

That last attempt at Fuoco was really satisfying to watch. Seeing the organic growth as a player that comes when fighting soulsborne or souls like bosses.

P.S. Perfect Guards can block "red" attacks too, as well as break parts off your enemies (to lower their attack or defense, usually). There are some other benefits but you'll see as you play. :elbowcough:

I've always enjoyed how Afro includes Nier and FF soundtracks to his videos. Hearing Find the Flame at the end was so fitting 🔥🔥
  • I can’t wait for this man to experience the pain that is the nameless puppet fight. 🤣

One thing that helped me with the parry is that instead of tapping the parry in time like in Sekiro you have to press in time and hold it like half a second to perfect parry. Once you get the hang of it the game starts clicking, granted it took me a bit longer than I care to admit but it clicked.
  • I'm surprised he made it back here... Good luck, hope you continue this series
  • @siegedoyle
Afro please finish this game. It's amazing. Your definitely getting the hang of it.
  • @schwiftgaming
The red moves are not un-parryable - they are the only moves you are required to parry. They are supposed to be undodgeable and you must perfect parry them to avoid damage.

I need a full series on this game its so good

Afro just going to say this is by far one of the best games I’ve played and as a seasoned souls vet it was a breath of fresh air in the waiting of the Elden ring dlc. For this game, you 100% should get parrying down to a basic level. Parrying is perfect blocking like sekiro (perfect block=red affect upon blocking at the right time). It’s not like sekiro where you can spam it, so you need to time it right. You don’t need to master it but I would recommend you do, it can be the difference in a fight that seems impossible to just taking a couple tries. Definitely explore and use the weapon assembling and make something unique that YOU like. Lots of great combinations and pretty much all are viable. And play to your strengths and play smart. Lots of players over hyped these bosses but they aren’t so bad if you just give yourself space to breathe and read the openings. Couple of bosses are absolutely really tough but you got this. Just save your fable arts for low health and consumables stock up on!

Oh that ending was pain. Everyone else gave some great tips, the only thing i'll add is the health you lose from blocking can be regained just like in bloodborne. This goes for the enemies you attack as well, if you aren't somewhat aggressive they'll regain some health
  • @AnthonyB96
Broo, I'm so glad you're continuing the Lies of P Let's play, but after hearing the FF16 ost, I wish you did one of that. 😩 It was such a great game.

I feel your pain Afro, but that had me dying 😂😂😂
