In the early 1940s the Nazis controlled Paris- but even they were terrified of a depraved maniac whose body count might have been as much as 150. The cops wanted him, the Nazis really wanted him, but this highly educated psychopath wasn’t so easy to catch.
This is the story of the man who became known as Dr. Satan, and it’s arguably one of the most messed up tales we’ve ever told.

The fact that he grew a beard and used a fake name, and the police hired him to help capture himself will never cease to amaze me.
  • This must the be most interesting serial killer I've ever heard about. Instead of living a normal, mundane life and staying under the radar he was ALL OVER the radar.

When the Nazis are afraid of someone: Something is wrong, I can feel it
  • And the scariest part is that psychopaths will always come and go. They aren't always serial killers, but they are also businessmen and politicians.

This guy was level 75 insane. Police ineptitude helped him thrive.
  • Fear and desperation certainly meant he had a consistent lineup of victims who thought they had a chance of escaping the nightmare...only to find they'd stepped into something even worse.
  • Just makes you wonder how many other people in the past got away with these kinds of murders when there was even less technology and modern conveniences (cars, photographs, phones, etc) to aid in their capture.

"wetting the bed, violence on animals, and lack of personal responsibility" if you ever see these 3 things together that is the tell tale sign of a serial killer. they all do it.
  • I never knew Dr. Satan was a real dude. I thought it was a character that Rob Zombie made up for House of 1000 Corpses.

Psychopath becomes MD, Mayor and serial killer. He seemed to understand manipulation extremely well.
  • The frontal lobe is responsible for fear, among other things. The fact that he wasn't even slightly afraid of dying meant his frontal lobe wasn't working at all

Somebody: I feel sick... Petiot: It's morphin' time.
  • There's actually a 1990 french movie about Dr Satan called "Doctor Petiot". It's pretty good, actually

Evil vs. another evil story will always be interesting to me and this is one of them

I had honestly never heard of this man. Thank you for the educational video. What an absolute madman.
  • @oleggorky906
That is one of the most incredible stories I have ever heard. At so many points incompetence compounded by further incompetence conspired to shield him from justice for so long, until he finally got what he deserved.

A classic case of psychopathy. Today professionals would identify him without any trouble.
