Welcome to Patmos, Greece 🇬🇷The Secret Greek Island you haven't heard of. We Love Greece ❤️

Published 2019-10-27
We’re in Patmos! A relatively undiscovered island in the Dodecanese Islands of Greece. There is no airport in Patmos so you have to come here by boat, making it feel quieter and more untouched.

We start things off at one of the highest points on the island with amazing views, the capital of Patmos called Chora. Chora is a small town with the Monastery of St. John at the very top. We spend some time exploring the cute town and also get some lunch. Patmos is very famous for being a Christian Pilgrimage site, it contains the Cave of the Revelation where John of Patmos was thought to have written the Book of Revelations (the last book of the Bible).

After this we head to a small beach town in Patmos called Grikos. We spend some time here just lounging on the beach.

Later we head make to one of the main areas of Patmos called Skala. This is likely where you’ll stay if you come to the island, it’s where the ferries arrive to and also where the majority of restaurants are.

ABOUT PATMOS
Patmos, an Aegean island in the north of Greece’s Dodecanese island group, is a significant Christian pilgrimage site. Its Cave of the Apocalypse is where John of Patmos (St. John the Theologian) is said to have written the Book of Revelations. A fortresslike, 11th-century monastery dedicated to the saint overlooks the whitewashed houses of the hilltop capital, Hora (also known as Chora).

Patmos is rather exclusive . Some members of the greek royal family have a summer house on this island .And moreover this place has a religious meaning due to St John the apostle. Patmos is definitely a special place to be !

Here in Greece we love you so much guy's.greetings from Thessaloniki ❤️
  • Yes. Finally some vloggers understand what they should do when visiting Greece. If any other vlogger reads this: Yes Santorini Mykonos is dropdead gorgeous. And so is Athens an incredible city, all with incredible culinary wealth and everything else. But stop talking about Greece as if you know everything about it, because using sentences where it specifically promotes only these places and some others as ""they are amazing, go here, you absolutely miss out on what Greece is truly is. Greece is a paradise with 80% mountains, 6000 islands and a mainland that is atleast as beautiful and consists of 80% of the total land cover. It's a country of spectacular beauty, and a tremendous diversity you will hardly find anywhere else. From Alpine mountains all the way to the only natural palm forests in Europe. And may I remind you, they are found all over the nation. Patmos is such an island that is off the beaten path. And there are endless other islands entirely unknown and special. I don't know, go travel to Evia (Greece's 2nd biggest island hardly known but incredibly beautiful), go to the emerald green island Thassos, or to Lemnos with the only small desert in Greece and archaeological sites dated to 11.000 years ago. Or go to Ithaca on the Ionian islands or to Amorgos or Syros (the capital of the Cyclades), or Sifnos or Milos the geological island or Folegandros and so on. And then the mainland with the incredible regions of Peloponnese or Western Greece or Central Greece of the province of Epirus or the province of Macedonia. Or the region of Halkidiki. Or the only monastic state in the world called Athos and so much more. It's as said a country with tremendous diversity and 80% mountains. 20 % of all of Europe's Ultra peak mountains are found in Greece, which is an incredible thing. And then Greece has 32% forests and the highest biodiversity in Europe in an tapestry of colors on the land and mountains. And so much more. So vloggers. You're fully entitled to visit Greece wherever you want. However don't talk about Greece as if it's just 3 places that doesn't even reflect 0.01% of Greece's true diversity and beauty, but act as if you know all about the nation. Next time. try to spend 2 weeks somewhere on the mainland renting a car and check out a certain region. Or an entirely unknown or lesser known island. You won't regret it and that what you will see around Greece is atleast as beautiful than Mykonos or Santorini, but entirely different. That is the true strength of Greece. There are countries where certain places really stand out and hence they're highlights. But in Greece the entire country is spectacular and hence it's a shame to pick 3 things when the other 10.000 things are equally great gems

Oh my gosh it’s absolutely gorgeous 😍 I’ve always said I’d love to go to the Greek islands, I’ve never heard of Patmos before but it’s pretty. That view was breathtaking
  • @pmk7211
From what I saw from all your greek vlogs, I think that you will absolutely love the island of Astypalaia. Very quiet and beautiful, and its not far from Patmos. Astypalaia is called the butterfly of the Aegean because of its shape. You should check it out! lots of love from a Greek girl <3
  • @1983ris
Hey guys, just came across you’re videos recently. I’ve noticed you fell in love with Greece pretty quickly. I did the opposite and fell in love with a Greek woman and then the country after. I would highly recommend the island of skiathos. It’s where we got married and also where they filmed the movie mamma Mia. It’s beautiful, green and vibrant. Keep the videos coming! Oh and it’s pronounced Feelo, not filo 😂
  • @stevefraser1409
Absolutely great. I love the less famous Greek islands. A different world from Santorini.
  • Great video! I hope to visit Patmos soon. I would encourage you both to read the book of revelations if you havent already. It will give you more context to why Patmos is so important to the christian faith.
